More than amazing food and stay

I stayed at this place for a night. The food was amazing! They make everything from a scratch and everything is really heartwarming. I definitely would like to stay there again maybe in the summer time to explore the mountains.

Tradition meets sustainability - glorious

My Japanese friend and I stayed here in November 2023 and it was an absolute highlight of our trip. Situated in a rural area renowned for its hiking trails and hot springs, Açai offers the traditional ryokan experience with the benefit of completely vegan full or half board. The friendly owners are committed to a sustainable lifestyle and have renovated the Edo period house - once home to a minor samurai family - following these principles, while keeping the historical features of the building in place. Having formerly run a restaurant, their food is spectacular and seasonal. Within walking distance of the Oigawa historical training, the location is quiet and the scenery beautiful (we even saw monkeys on our morning walk!). Added bonuses included a free pick-up from the station, the ability to make special requests for food intolerances and the natural, fragrance free toiletries. Very highly recommended.
