Perfect for lunch - Edit
I made a beeline for this after arriving at Catania airport. It was the perfect lunch spot. Parking just outside. Loads of options, such an extensive menu. Very courteous staff - extremely helpful. The pizza was very very tasty and I wish I could have tried more. Don't overlook the chance to try vegan version of Sicilian pastries!

Great vegan food - Edit
Great food, more take away than a cozy restaurant, very nice staff! I also liked the desserts, some minitartlets! It isn't very expensive and they have very good sicilian beer!

Traditional sicilian food - but vegan - Edit
I wish that I could have tasted more of all the treats that AbracadaBar offers. I tasted their nice vegan kebab, their delicious arancinis, their AMAZING cannolis, their smooth and tasty ice-cream - this was over two days - but I wish I could have gone there a third time.
Read moreThey are not a cozy restaurant - more of a place to take away and do a picnic in the park. But I'm longing for the next time I can continue to taste their other desserts and other small dishes. I get very happy just thinking about it!
Pros: many small options, DELICIOUS, traditional sicilian
Cons: not a cosy place, treats can be finished

Sicilian classics vegan style! - Edit
Wow, such a pity I didn't discover this place until just before leaving Sicily. They had vegan versions of all the food I'd been watching my non-vegan travelling partner eat during the rest of the holiday! We were there for all-you-can-eat pizzas on Saturday night. Lovely whole wheat pizzas with a great range of toppings (smoked tofu, sausage and fried potato, green pesto, sausage and mushrooms). Managed to find space for an apple cream pastry afterwards which was delicious. Animal rights messages and quotes on the walls and very friendly staff.

Fabulous food, lovely people - Edit
We turned up in the evening wanting a meal, not just a snack. The chef was summoned and cooked us two really lovely dishes. Absolutely delicious. Unfortunately we didn't have time to go back to sample the cakes, pastries etc but we will, next time.

A traditional Italian [coffee] bar, but vegan! - Edit
I was so silly excited to try Abracadabar and it didn't disappoint. If you're looking for an elegant dinner restaurant to take a date this probably isn't it, but it's exactly what it claims to be - a traditional Italian coffee bar where everything is vegan. Living in Italy and passing by these little cafes every day, I always find myself wishing I could just sit down and have a pastry and cappuccino! Here that is possible, and the pastries and coffee were delicious. It looked like maybe sometimes they have gelato as well, though there wasn't any when I visited in the dead of winter. Just a really nice little place and the people there were helpful and patient with us! Sweet and savory pastries were both delicious, and I wish I could have stuck around for when they started cooking the day's arancini special.

Good vegan coffee bar in the city centre - Edit
A good coffee bar in the centre of Catania offering vegan drinks, juices, home made arancini, pizza, brioches and ice cream. Everything is vegan.
Read moreIt is about 5-10 minutes walk from the entrance of the beautiful Villa Bellini park on via Etna.
I particularly liked the vegan arancini, which is a Sicilian speciality, and the good selection of bottled drinks, many of which are bio / organic.
I also tried the ice cream, made with soya milk and carruba, which is a typical Sicilian fruit, and found it good.
This place also has informative material about the vegan diet.
The staff is professional and friendly and there's a relaxed atmosphere.
It is a good place to have a snack, ice cream or drink if you are in the centre of Catania.
Pros: Central location, Vegan arancini, Informative material about vegan diet
