sehr lecker in Wohlfühlatmosphäre

Seit circa 10 Jahren hier in Göttingen.
Endlich mal
Reservieren per Telefon geht, keine Treppenstufen / Rollstuhl gerecht.
Kein Aperol, aber verschiedene Biere und Getränke. Gerne wieder, wette alle Gerichte schmecken!

Lovely traditional restaurant in the heart of göttingen. Restaurant is open since around 10 years serving traditional East African food with clearly marked vegan options.
I love the atmosphere and service! Super friendly! Vegan options are great: sucini was delicious with a zucchini tomato stew and everything is served with rice, couscous and Injera.
If you’re two you can get a bit of everything for 16 pp
Love it here and will be back for sure

very delicious

we ate the vegan plate for two persons in the traditional way (one plate). It was really very delicious and I recommend to reserve/book a table. We came early at 5 pm and we're lucky.

Pros: Many vegan options , friendly waiter, they take allergys in consideration

Super tasty food

I shared a vegan combo platter with a friend and it tasted really good. Entering the restaurant I already found that it smelled fragrant due to all the different spices. Portions size could have been a little larger but I am just a hungry kind of guy.
Would come back!

Good choice of typical food

There are at least 6 vegan options for the main dishes and some vegan appetizers.
We got the Okra with tomato sauce and the spinach with tomato sauce.
With it, we got 1 bread each and a shared rice and cous cous.
Each dish costed around 9/10 euros and tasted great!!

Ethiopian cuisine or just this restaurant has so much food for vegans

I spent my last birthday with one friend of mine there. It was amazing. The Food was delicious, so many vegan options. The atmosphere was calm and the waiter was friendly. Now I will cook something vegan Ethiopian at home. The one bad thing is that it opens at 17, no chance for lunch.

Pros: A lot of vegan options, delicious , Calm atmosphere , Friendly staff

Cons: A little expensive , It opens at 17, no lunch at midday possible

Ethiopian Feast - dinner made simple

They have a large menu with various vegan options, but it was so easy to order “the vegan platter for 2” and out came plenty of injera (flat bread), 4 veggie dishes (okra, spinach, squash, lentils) and a potato and green bean mix too. Dju Dju beer served in a bowl was fun but not my favorite drink, wouldn’t order that again.

Pros: Lots of vegan options, So simple if you get the platter!

Delicious!

Serves various vegan options, all of them delicious. Usually served as a large plate of mixed dishes with traditional Ethiopian bread. The staff will explain you what is in every dish and which of them are hot/spicy.
If you are lucky, you can witness a traditional coffee ceremony including roasting, brewing and serving.
The staff is super friendly and helpful, and will also explain how to eat the food. (Pick the dish up with the bread. forks/knives are also available.) The place is small but cozy, you can sit outside (street side).
I advise anyone to book a table at least one day in advance.

Pros: Delicious , Coffee Ceremony, Nice staff

Cons: Usually full of people, sometimes long waits, restrooms are not barrier-free :(

A nice find

A friend I was visiting in the city took me to this restaurant. It was a real find and wasn't initially listed on Happy Cow so I got it listed. Really helpful server who explained to me the role of veganism in the Ethiopian diet. Food was tasty and filling. There are not many options in this city so this is a good place to go I'd say.

Pros: Vegan aware, Good price, Delicious

Cons: Serves meat

Prime address in town

I've been there a couple of times and have always been excited. The Abessina serves inexpensive plates with different incredibly tasty vegan dishes. You usually eat them with injera (Ethiopian flatbread), couscous and rice. I would also recommend the different fruit flavored beers which are served in a bowl. Also the staff is really friendly and makes you feel welcome and home. It's a pitty they serve meat, because I would really like to give a rating of 5.

Pros: Dishes, Price, Staff
