Authentic Portuguese Flavours, 100% Plant-Based - Edit
A delightful vegan take on Portuguese cuisine
Read moreA Minha Avó offers traditional Portuguese dishes reinvented in a fully vegan version, and they do a fantastic job of preserving the soul of the originals.
We tried the "octopus" rice, the "meat" croquettes, the stuffed "meat" roll with vegan alheira, and finished with the Leite Creme.
The "octopus" rice was rich, comforting, and packed with deep, intense flavours. It had a wonderfully creamy texture that made it incredibly satisfying.
The "meat" croquettes are a must if you miss the smoky, chorizo-like flavour. They really capture those traditional notes, and the accompanying sauce complements them perfectly. Personally, I don't miss that flavour, but I have to admit they recreated it remarkably well.
My favourite dish was definitely the stuffed "meat" roll. Its flavours were more subtle and balanced, which suited my taste perfectly. It was hearty, delicious, and beautifully prepared.
For dessert, the Leite Creme was excellent. The delicate vanilla flavour paired wonderfully with the crisp caramelised topping, creating a classic and satisfying finish.
The restaurant has a minimalist yet cosy atmosphere and is clearly very popular, so it's a good idea to book ahead.
Finally, a special mention to the wonderful staff, who were warm, attentive, and welcoming throughout our visit—especially Alexandre from São Paulo, whose friendliness made the experience even more enjoyable.
A great place to discover Portuguese cuisine from a fresh vegan perspective. Highly recommended!

Alright - Edit
All the dishes we tried looked good. It was not a big hit for me as I do not miss steak or fishflavors, and the menu did not have many vegatables.

Good place if you like to go down memory lane - Edit
If you like to go down memory lane and enjoy the taste of Portuguese typical dishes before you were a vegan, this is the place. If you not, maybe this is not the place for you.

Good food - Edit
The food was good. I only tried the francesinha. It wasn't my favorite dish, but that's just my personal preference as I wasn't a fan of the acidic/vinegary sauce it came with. Overall, it was a good dish, good vibes, and friendly staff.

Delicious Authentic Portuguese Food - Edit
We usually come to this restaurant from time to time on special ocasions. This restaurant is located in central Lisbon (aka difficult parking). Hubby loves to come here for the bitoque. The staff is friendly and helpful.
Read moreWe order the croquetes everytime we come here and they are delicious and taste meaty, they also come with a mayo sauce.
For hubby, we always order the bitoque, which comes with a mustard and garlic sauce, a vegan egg (very realistic), plain rice and salted fries. I don't enjoy it much myself, I think the bitoque with the white mushroom sauce is a lot more delicious, but hubby loves this one specifically.
For myself I sometimes order the vacalhau or the bitoque with white mushroom sauce. They are both delicious dishes but I prefer the bitoque. This bitoque comes with rice and fries aswell.
The vacalhau is a bit "underwhelming" for me, it's main protein source is pleurotus mushrooms and IDK about yall but I think a handfull of mushrooms shouldn't be considered a protein base. Give vegans a meatier protein please! Mushrooms are way too mushy and spongy, it's not the best alternative to fish. The vacalhau is not bad, it does taste slightly fishly but not enough to surprise me.
We also tried the francesinha, it's really good, meaty and not too spicy.
They serve teas, handmade kombuchas, and fresh juices, neither of us are big fans of these drinks here, they are a bit "underwhelming" aswell, but I think this is a bit subjective. We like our drinks a bit more suggary and stronger. The kombucha isn't bad but the floaters on there give me the hibbie jibbies, and I normally like fermented foods and drinks (kefir, iogurts, etc.). The drinks are a bit sour, they could all use a bit of sugar IMO. If you have IBS, prepare for acid reflux.
The price for 2 people to dine here is a bit over 50€ if you ask for desert and drinks, which is a tad bit expensive but considering they serve elaborate dishes, I think it's justifiable.
I believe they could improve the experience of this restaurant if they made it a bit more whimsy and romantic. Dim orange lights, more plants and flowery, cozy decoration. I know the restaurant wants to give the "grandma's house" vibes but considering that the menu is on the more expensive side (not very grandma like), they serve more elaborate dishes, the way they present the food, couples come here often, I think it would make it better since the experience seems more like "fine dining" then your tipical grandma's house.

I’ve visited a lot of vegan places around Europe that serves vegan versions of traditional dishes but this is my absolute favourite. The taste is out of these world. The complexity of flavours were outstanding. I was so sad that I could not eat more!

Comida tipica portuguesa vegana - Edit
I visited this vegan restaurant with a friend and was impressed by its creative take on traditional Portuguese cuisine. We skipped the starters because we wanted to save room for dessert, and it was definitely the right decision.
Read moreFor our mains, we ordered the Bitoque com Ovo, made with seitan, and the Bacalhau à Moda da Avó, made with tofu. Both dishes were absolutely delicious, packed with authentic Portuguese flavors and beautifully prepared. It was amazing to enjoy these classic comfort foods in a fully vegan version without losing their traditional character.
For dessert, we shared the chocolate mousse and the Doce da Casa, a typical Portuguese dessert made with layers of cookies, crème brûlée-style cream, and chopped chocolate. Both were rich, indulgent, and the perfect ending to the meal.
A great spot for anyone looking to enjoy vegan food with a true Portuguese soul.

Wonderful way to experience traditional Portuguese dishes but without the animals. Great seitan ‘steak’ and vegan ‘egg’, imitation fish dishes using tofu or mushrooms with seaweed, Portuguese sausages and pickles etc. Big portions and all very tasty!

Great for tasting veganized Portuguese dishes! - Edit
It was great to try a variety of traditional Portuguese dishes, including the desserts, made vegan. Prices are reasonable and the food is made well. The seitan used is excellent and is made in-house. It's best to reserve during lunch hours as it gets very busy.

absolut Essenswert - Edit
Unbedingt vorbeischauen
