Always been good but consistently adding more vegan options is a plus - Edit
A&J now offers vegan cream cheese for bagels, vegan cheese as a substitute on sandwiches, and a really wonder "veggie press" sandwich that can be easily modded to be vegan (sub vegan cheese and omit the pesto spread -- try their house made hummus on it instead!)
Read moreAs of 2024~2025, they usually have at least one vegan pastry item available each day. Beans are no longer Coffee By Design but Atomic Coffee from Beverly and they do a great job with it. Also, of course, A&J's bread is to die for. Top tier. Love it.

Salem staple adding more vegan options - Edit
A&J King have been selling excellent traditional french bakery items for years now and have become a local institution. Over time, they've slowly been adding more vegan options to the menu. Vegan muffins, cheese, and cream cheese are available daily. They also sometimes have vegan cake, sandwich, and soup specials. There's at least one vegan employee that I know of and the staff is knowledgeable and accommodating. Plus, there's excellent coffee from local favorite roaster, Coffee by Design.

Delicious bagels - Edit
I popped in for breakfast and had a very delicious vegan cream cheese bagel and oat late. I didn’t see too many options on the menu but once I asked there seemed to be a lot of options they can provide so definitely ask if you don’t see much

there hasn’t been a thing here that i’ve tried that i haven’t loved. the salad sandwich is a STAPLE. the pita is so unbelievably fresh as well as the veggies - always crisp and fresh. the vegan soups are insanely good and some of the best i’ve ever had. they also have a yummy pb&j on the menu! the lattes are incredible and the pastries, too! a billion/10!
