Good vegan options

Went for Sunday lunch and was pleased to see three options for main course: vegan roast, beetroot tart, chickpea burger. My husband had the roast (butternut squash and pumpkin seed loaf) which he raved about and came with plenty of potatoes and veg. I had the beetroot tart which came with sweet potatoes and spinach, also a decent sized portion. Then the vegan chocolate orange mousse with “honeycomb” was to die for.
The staff are happy to cater for vegans and we did not mention this specifically in advance.
Good value for money for delicious food.

Vegan menu

They do have a vegan menu-which has 3 mains-the usual vegan burger, a risotto, & a tart Tatin. The tart was delicious, but only came with a few potatoes & few slithers of peppers. The risotto lacked flavour

The dishes were nicely presented & the staff were helpful-they offered vegan cream for liqueur coffee too

Just a shame there was no protein in any of the meals-however Deal seems to be lacking in vegan places so to get any sort of vegan meal is a bonus

Love it here

Fantastic place. The staff are friendly and helpful. They have a separate vegan menu with two or three choices each for starters mains and puddings. Food is delicious.I had onion bhaji starter, red onion tarte tartin with sweet potatoes as a main, and peanut butter ice cream with chocolate mousse and hazelnut brittle for pudding.
They also take Tastecard which gives a 50% discount. Happy days!

Pros: Separate vegan menu

Very average and not worth the money

We went to 81 Beach Street for their Sunday roast. They do a vegetarian roast but nothing listed as vegan so we called them the day before to enquire - they told us they could do a vegan roast but only if booked in advance.

We had some vegans and vegetarians in our group. Each roast consisted of three roast potatoes each, one carrot each plus peas, green beans and courgette ribbons to share. The menu listed a sweet potato, sage and pearl barley loaf but we didn't receive this (though no one had let us know it wasn't available); instead we each got a small mix of vegetables in tomato sauce - it was a sloppy disappointing mess.

The vegetarian roast also had a large Yorkshire pudding each and broccoli with cheese but we were charged the same for the vegan and vegetarian roasts even though the vegans had significantly less food. It would be nice if they could make more effort for vegans.

The food was ok, it was all cooked well and tasted fine but it was nothing special and the portions were small. The roast was £15 each and certainly not worth this.

The positives are that the location and decor are lovely and the staff are nice though the lady who we thought was the owner is not a naturally warm person if you know what I mean!

We wouldn't return as it's nothing special and overpriced for what it is. Don't waste your money here - highly recommend the Pop Up Cafe instead who have lots of nice vegan options and are friendlier.

Pros: Good location, Nice decor

Cons: Poor vegan food, Very overpriced

£1 Supermarket Burger 🤢

This place used to be great but has really dipped in the last 18 months in terms of quality of food. Whilst the service was still great the vegan burger was clearly one of the supermarket processed burgers and dressed very badly. You can make the same burger at home for under £3 and make it way better by dressing it to your preference. I would never eat here again unless they seriously raise their game.

Pros: Separate vegan menu

Cons: Over priced , Poor quality vegan food, Lacks imagination in the menu

Nice options but shame about the execution

I enjoyed my food here and this is one of the only places in Deal with a separate vegan menu. However initially I was brought the wrong dish so my partner was nearly finished by the time it came and my brownie was a bit burnt although they did remove the cost of this from the bill.
