The Mayor Of Manchester

This was by no means my first visit to this incredible space, nor will it be my last.
One of the keys to this venue’s enduring success is its reliability. Whether it’s the exceptional ales served up by the perennial mainstay that is Blackjack Brewery, or the ever-changing array of street food vendors, there is always something worth making the journey for.
On this occasion, however, the primary focus was the aforementioned beers. While living in Dubai has numerous advantages, close proximity to, and the ready availability of, exceptional brews is not one of them. Every time I am forced to pay a king’s ransom for a distinctly average lager, a little piece of me dies. Being back in the vicinity, I knew I had to capitalise while I could.
That steely mindset saw me through four of their finest pints: a luxurious, rich vegan milk stout; a zesty, fruity hazy pale; a subtle, light pale; and a crisp, refreshing Helles. Each was glorious in its own right, and I would happily have sunk several more had time - or my liver - allowed.
Of course, despite my ardent intentions, it was never going to be solely about the liquid refreshment, and I inevitably succumbed to the cacophony of aromas and glimpses of tantalising dishes that surrounded me.
The most alluring plates I espied originated from Chilli B’s, so it’s no surprise that the vast majority of what I devoured came from there. Tasting every bit as good as they looked, all three dishes I chose were superb, with the satay mushroom skewers proving particularly impressive. I’ll admit I could probably have handled a little more spice in the curry - I suspect they had toned the heat down a tad for less seasoned Western palates - but it was still excellent nonetheless.
Having acquired a taste for deep-fried delicacies, and in need of one final nibble to quell my hunger, I turned my attention to Pico’s Tacos and their crispy cauliflower creation. While not enormous, this splendid little morsel carried bags of flavour, along with a respectable kick of heat, and did everything I needed it to do.
In all the years that I have had the pleasure of frequenting what must surely now be regarded as a Manchester institution, never have I left disappointed, and this visit was no exception. More than simply a place to enjoy great food or grab a refreshing beverage, it’s a genuine community hub with a wonderful atmosphere, and I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Delicious food and cocktails!

Popped in with some friends as we were attending a gig next door, thinking the food court option was a good idea with a mixed group. Not too many vegan options that I could see on the app, but what I ordered (vegan pad thai) was super tasty and arrived surprisingly fast. The highlight for us though was definitely the cocktails, very impressive!

Pros: Cocktails, Vegan options clearly labelled, Fast service

Nice venue, good food, should be more though

A food hall that isn't overstimulating so that's always a good start. Had the vegan green curry which was really really good, great portion sizes on that and all the food my friends got too. I think there might be more vegan options than you see on the menu however it requires going up to each stall to request them which isn't ideal
