We were hot, sticky and desperate for something icy after several hours walking in the hills and fields at the top of the Maokong Gondola station on a very hot day. We came across this place and saw the menu sign in English. We went in and there was a staff member who spoke some English who was able to point out the iced desserts we could have, which was about half of what was on the menu. She explained we couldn't have the condensed milk but we were ok with that.

It was so refreshing and we appreciated as vegans that we too could enjoy an iced treat.
I used AI to get the name of the place - it translated it to “Highest on the mountain”.
The place was pretty busy and there was a cute cat lounging around as well as an older American guy playing his guitar near the entrance who told us he had been living in Taiwan for many years.
I didn't realise, as we came here on our first day in the country, how difficult it would be to have shaved ice again while we were in Taiwan. The few other places I tried I could not be sure enough due to language barriers even though I had the Vegan Passport, that we would not be getting the condensed milk (seems there is no vegan condensed milk available) and I didn't want to risk it. So this ended up being the only shaved ice we had on our trip.
To find it - it is not far from the top Maokong Gondola Station. Go past the Visitors Centre and walk along. It is on the right, set back from the road.
Use the photo I have attached to find the building. Go down the short little lane to enter it.
