the freshest stir-fry I've had in ages : ) - Edit
while it amused me to only have other farang as fellow diners - it had been a while - this was easily one of my top meals in Chiang Mai since arriving. I had the red curry sugar snap peas w/ fried tofu lime leaves and will be back! good brown rice side, kind staff, pleasant booths and drinking water with ice. thumbs up.

Restaurant food served street-style - Edit
Cute little hole-in-the-wall-style restaurant serving veganised Thai classics. I went for the pad Thai which was full of flavour and wok-fried with the perfect amount of char. My partner was impressed with the generous amount of tofu in his enormous bowl of creamy, coconutty khao soi, which came topped with a mountain of those classic, crispy noodles. We also each got a sugar-free smoothie. My partner said his ‘banana oat peanut butter’ flavoured one was like breakfast in a glass. Everything was fresh, tasty and great value.
Read moreOne thing to bear in mind is the lack of seating here. Beer runs this place with his mum and explained how they had recently relocated and sized down, so now there’s more of an outdoor bar setup rather than proper table seating. Perched on little barstools next to the road, we just about managed to shelter from the sudden downpour under their shallow awning.
The menu is another thing that has changed slightly since their relocation, now focused more exclusively on Thai food—so don’t come expecting sandwiches and avocado toast! They do, however, still serve smoothie bowls. The menu is also entirely vegan and I double-checked with Beer about this. Unfortunately, they do occasionally offer eggs as an add-on depending on when they can get them in, preventing the place from being able to be listed as vegan.
Pros: Usually fully vegan 🌱, Big portions 🫄, Attentive staff 🙏
Cons: Sometimes serve egg 🐣, No proper seating 🪑

Deserves more than 5 stars - Edit
Abundance, flavor, ambiance, this place has everything. We had breakfast then found ourselves back for dinner-- can't stay away, don't want to!
Read moreThe prices are so reasonable, too. Delicious mains, coffee, friendly staff (you can tour the kitchen, but you might want them to adopt you if you get a look at how homey it is). 😉

Best vegan food in Chiang Mai! - Edit
Coffties is without a doubt the best place we’ve been for healthy vegan food in Chiang Mai. There’s a huge variety of dishes to choose from and they’re all made with healthy ingredients and bursting with flavour. We loved every meal we had here and the prices are great. Highly recommend!!

Lots of options fun location - Edit
We kinda just went for smoothies but then the food on the menu sounded too good so we ended up eating a bunch of stuff too 😅. They have upstairs and downstairs seating, upstairs was a bit more cozy. The staff was friendly and the portions sizes are pretty good too. We will definitely come here again!

Good food - Edit
There are quite a lot of options on the menu, including a few dishes I haven't seen elsewhere. I had the khao soi, it was delicious but way too much for me. I only ate half.

Vegan Khao Soi - Edit
29 Coffties was one of the stops on a Khao Soi Crawl I recently hosted. 27 of us gathered at the restaurant to taste-test a small portion of 29 Coffties' Khao Soi and rate it based on a variety of categories.
Read moreHere is a summary of everyone's written feedback:
Receiving the most votes for overall favorite, and the highest score in several categories, it was put best by someone who said, “best overall without a doubt!” Many people noted the generous (biggest) portion size as well as the beautiful (prettiest) presentation. There was an overall consensus that the wet noodles here were most people’s favorite of the day (“good consistency,” “firm,” “best,” “perfect,” “plentiful”). Additionally, some noted the quality of the crispy noodles, saying they “stayed crispy.” Several people noted the generous serving and wide variety of “perfectly cooked” veggies. The only written feedback that was less than positive were notes on the inauthenticity, either of the curry flavor (too sweet), or the non-traditional ingredients (veggies). However, many said the spice level was just right, and I think most agreed with the sentiment, “although not authentic, crazy yummy.”
Here are the average scores out of 10:
Authenticity - 6.45
Value for Price - 8.6
Curry Flavor - 7.35
Quality of Noodles - 8.7
Amount and Variety of Fillings - 8.55

Great Place but Watch out for Non-Vegan Soy Milk - Edit
This lovely little cafe is in the Santitham area. It is a cute and quiet place, perfect for a bit of work, tasty food and maybe a coffee. Their avocado toast was great. The banana oat smoothie was not quite as thick as what I was hoping for but it was still yummy.
Read moreFor a western style place the places are incredibly cheap. I thought they'd made a mistake when they brought the bill.
Although they are not fully vegan I'm pretty sure most of the food is apart from the option of egg to add to some dishes. There is a page of vegetarian smoothies, as well as a page of vegan ones as well. They do offer cow's milk for coffee.
I haven't tried the Thai food yet but there was a huge choice of standard Thai dishes which all sounded great.
I also had a latte, which brings me to my one gripe about the place. Although they had a couple of different plant milks on offer I chose soy as it is my favourite. I asked which brand they use and he showed me two. One of them was non-vegan Lactasoy and I told him I didn't want that as it is not vegan. He tried to tell me that actually it is vegan and was not convinced until I pointed out the whole milk powder in the ingredients on the side. I really hope that now they know they will not offer it to vegans anymore or try to claim it is vegan.
Otherwise it is a great place and I'll be back to try more. I also just wish they didn't call themselves 'Vegan Cafe' when they're actually just vegetarian rather than vegan.
Pros: All veg, Great dishes, Cheap
Cons: Didn't know about non-vegan Lactasoy

Cosy little cafe with very good prices - Edit
Reopened 07 Dec 2020 at new location.
Read moreSince reopening it now has a Thai food menu also. Tempeh is available as an addition to any meal.
Everyone who walks in get a nice welcome from the owner of the shop. It is a small place, but didn't feel overcrowded while I was there.
I ordered the green pesto salad sandwich. It was very good and looked as good as shown in the photos. The bread is very good quality from Kasem Store and the sandwich had good quality ingredients of avocado, black olives etc. all for 89 baht.
I finished with a smoothie that I selected the ingredients myself. It was delicious, although not quite frozen enough to eat with a spoon. Which is the way I like it.
In addition they have coffee and smoothie bowls, which I didn't try
Finally I saw they have a varied selection of kombucha tea in the fridge. I bought a few to take away. 50 baht per bottle.
I was very happy to go here as it was a place I hadn't noticed in HappyCow before. The owner is very Vegan aware, so don't hesitate to come here.

nice cafe in quite Soi - Edit
it’s a nice little cafe in a quite Soi a few minutes walk from Huay Kaew Road ... I had the fresh spring rolls and my friend had a salad ... there was a restricted menu choice because they had run out of avocado hence the 4 star rating ... the food was very good and the staff very chatty to the point of delayed preparation of food
