Evening meal great - Edit
We went for an evening meal which they do Fridays a Saturdays. Menu is different every time so check out before you go.
Read moreTapas style multiple dishes we shared. All deliscious! They also have some nice vegan wines.
Staff served quickly and super helpful.
Very clean place and super convenient as just a short walk from the station...head to the trams exit and then a short walk up the hill.
Reasonably priced.
Pros: Great food, Near station

Solid choice for vegans - Edit
I've been here multiple times for lunch and brunch and always enjoyed it. The mushroom on toast is my favourite but the pea and edamame smash could do with some extra seasoning.

Excellent restaurant with great views - Edit
A great vegetarian and vegan restaurant that I have somehow have never been to before, but I was very impressed with the place. It is in a ground floor flat of the Park Hill estate, 2 minutes walk above the station, well signed from the station/tram stop. Lovely views over Sheffield, especially if you sit upstairs. Very friendly welcome and all the staff were friendly and attentive, great choice of vegetarian and Vegan food, which were clearly labelled. I chose a hummus plate (£13.00) and prana chai (£4.20), which was available as a vegan option. Both came promptly and were beautifully presented and very tasty. There was plenty of food and the plate included falafel, flat bread and 2 dips. The restaurant was very busy and is obviously a popular spot to meet friends and have a lovely meal. Highly recommended.

Well worth the walk! - Edit
Absolutely brilliant! Our first time there but it was so worth the trip. For once, I was spoit for choice of vegan options but the chef's all day breakfast (Syrian aubergine stew with flatbread) was lush, filling and fragrant. My partner had the spiced potatoes - who knew that some crispy spuds, labneh and 2 fried eggs could taste so magnificent! The coffee is knock- out strong and banana bread (homemade that day) was the perfect finale to the loveliest lunch

Simple, Seasonal, and Impressively Executed - Edit
A simple menu that’s well executed and genuinely impressive. The vegan choices were spot on, with fresh organic veg sourced from their own growing area just across the road. The mezze option was straightforward but full of dishes that complemented each other beautifully, showcasing great ingredients. The only way to elevate the spread even further would be to add a flatbread option beyond the classic pitta.

Great brunch spot - Edit
Came here for brunch on Saturday morning - place was busy but we were seated & served quickly. My partner is a self confessed coffee snob but even he approved of the filter batch brew.
Read moreI had the borlotti beans on GF bread - sadly they don’t have a dedicated GF toaster so had the bread untoasted but that turned out to be a blessing as it meant I could mop up the delicious rich tomato sauce. Some of the best homemade ‘baked’ beans I’ve tried.
My partner had the crispy potatoes & couldn’t fault them.
Definitely on the list of places to return to when next visiting Sheffield
Pros: Stylish but relaxed vibe with friendly staff, Superb coffee , Range of vegan options
Cons: No separate GF toaster

Nice cafe - Edit
Nice cafe, with indoor and outdoor seating, offering a variety of vegan cakes at the time that I went (early in the day). The cakes tasted good but felt a little stale (as if they were from the day before). Kitchen only opens at 11:30. Pretty vases on each table.

Lovely stop for coffee and a sweet treat - Edit
Lovely choice of cakes and hot drinks (as well as sandwiches and meals though we only popped in for a coffee break). I was excited to discover the spiced chai hot chocolate was vegan and it came with whipped cream and marshmallows too, so was super chuffed. My friend had the dark chocolate and tahini cookie which she loved and I had a moist and generous slice of Frangipane tart which was incredible.

South Street Kitchen - Edit
I’ve visited here a few times however not for a long while. The venue itself is great, seating available on ground and first floor, as well as outside if the weather is kind! They have ready prepped salads, sandwiches, cakes and pastries, as well as a cook to order menu. It was difficult to know what was in each dish for allergen/intolerances. When asked the staff member wasn’t sure and seemed put out that we wanted a definitive answer, but in the end did go and ask the kitchen. I had the mushrooms on toast with a side of tofu. The mushrooms were not pleasant, had a very strong and overpowering aniseed taste. The tofu scramble was very soft, maybe using silken tofu, and very salty. My friend was also disappointed with their food quality and did raise a complaint to management about their meal. Not sure if there’s been a change, or it was an off day, but on previous visits the food has been good. I’d revisit but maybe on a weekday next time as it was pretty busy on a Saturday afternoon.

Definitely a more interesting brunch menu than most places with lots of vegan choice. Food was nice and good portion sizes but I felt it was lacking a bit of finesse for me to give 4 stars.

Veggie cafe at Park Hill - Edit
I can't believe I hadn't already left a review from when we used to come here pre-covid. We started visiting SSK the first month if not week of it opening all those years ago and it was always a favourite of ours. We'd visit every time we went to the city centre. This has been our second visit since venturing out again post-covid. We'd already eaten so just had a bowl of the Lebanese Crispy Potatoes and a drink each. The potatoes were delicious and beautifully presented. Our visit today reminded us how much we like it here and we'll definitely visit again and again from now on :)

Me and my daughter had a booking for the Palestinian evening (all profits going to Medical Aid for Palestinians) after a long train ride (very close to train station)

Great food but noisy - Edit
The venue has an industrial relaxed decor. Upstairs the ceiling is low so it is very noisy.
Read moreIt was a lovely warm evening when my husband and I visited and we wanted to sit outdoors but were not allowed to. Indoors was too warm and we did not feel relaxed because of the Covid risk indoors, which would have been virtually non-existant outdoors. Yet later they did seem to serve some people outside.
It was a dumpling evening and the food was certainly interesting with great flavour. Staff were friendly and helpful. I would say that this place is relatively expensive given the size of the portions.

Good veggie cafe 👍 - Edit
South Street Kitchen does all the standard veggie cafe fare - sandwiches, soups, salads, cakes, and some hot options like beans on toast.
Read moreIt does them fancy, with their own little twists on things. Everything is vegetarian and almost everything can be vegan.
I had three salads with muhammara, a side of falafel, and an oat milk cappuccino. They were all nice, but not really the best I've had. The salads didn't taste of much but thankfully the muhammara really popped so I poured that on everything. I should say this was at 3PM so maybe the salads taste better earlier when they're a bit fresher.
The falafel were nice, I'd definitely recommend them, and the cappuccino was ok but I've had better. All in all it was a nice lunch but for £17 I'd have liked more flavoursome than I got.
Still a good option and I'd go back here.
