More About Me

Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:
Entirely for the animals. They are my motivation every day. The health benefits I derive are extraordinary, but that's not why I do it.

I joined HappyCow Members Community because:
HappyCow is an oasis. It's an uplifting, positive place to go.

Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:
I love traveling to view wildlife. Recently fell in love with the prairie dogs in North and South Dakota. My favorite cities in the world so far are Vancouver BC, Seattle, London and San Francisco. My fave small town is Jasper, Alberta.

Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:
Tempeh, seitan, tofu, avocados, cilantro, kale, walnuts, cherries, strawberries, quinoa, eggplant, black beans and rice, hummus (and all things chickpea!)

Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:
Favorite quote: “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated” ~ Mahatma Gandhi Thought for the day: "When an animal attacks us, we call them vicious, but when we shoot an animal, we call it hunting."

You posted a wonderful response to me on a forum I started about eggs & milk. THANK YOU. I am shocked about the EggLands Best. I would pass up .89-cent Publix eggs and pay $4.39 for EggLands, thinking I was doing something good. I am SO annoyed.

I absolutely have a Whole Foods and from here on buy the eggs you recommend. You have no idea how much I appreciate your response.

Now, I am really questioning the milk I drink, Horizon. I can't get a straight answer about it. There's some jibberish about the cows being outside a certain percentage of the time; but, of course that could mean they are in a slaughter-house the rest of the time.

Good idea on my own chickens. I live in Miami and, actually, chickens are quite common here! But, my dog and cat would NEVER allow it (and I am guessing my neighbors wouldn't either). A cow for milk is out of the question too, so I might just try to go full soy from now on.

Thank you again for your response. I really appreciate it.

Hi! Thanks for your comment, and your kind words. Cheese is a beast, isn't she? I think many of us are hard on ourselves about kicking it until we realize just how addictive it is. Congrats on your perseverance! Well worth the effort!
