Definitely worth the trip
This place is a little bit off the beaten path - but well worth the trip from the city center: You will find a quiet place along the Spree river with a special, relaxing view. Watch boats pass by while filling yourself up with traditional German fare (dumplings, red cabbage, Schnitzel, Bratwurt, Hamburgers) and wonderful deserts - everything vegetarian / vegan. The service is very friendly and helpful - we'll be back.

Treat yourself all day long
The best thing about this friendly cafe-like eatery are the opening times: Whereas many restaurants here open for lunch only, possibly re-open later for dinner (as late as 7:30 pm), this one is open during the whole day. You find vegetarian quiches and strudels, served with salad, vegetables and rice, for a fair price. And do not forget to try the wonderful dessert options, served with any kind of tea you like, or even with gourmet cafe!

The hot drinks (ginger, lemon, mint) are very good - a great starter on a cool and rainy day. The spelt (dinkel wheat) pancakes with vegetables were just great and the potatoes with cream cheese can be recommended as well. Everything was prepared fresh and quickly, the staff was very friendly and helpful. This bistro has only limited indoor seating - a reservation is advisable on days when you don't want to sit outside. Thank you, Bio Essabar, for this delicious experience!

The concierge in our hotel told us about this place and was enthusiastic about it: She was not a vegetarian but liked the food there a lot. We went there to try it out and found it appealing: The food was well prepared and tasty, the prices fair, the staff very friendly and helpful. If you are in the area, you should stop by and give it a try: You will find good food to fill your tummy.

Very friendly service
Head to this neat place if you care for a selection of freshly made falafels which you can dress up with whatever items you crave for ... and try the potato chips as side dish: you will have to walk far to find something as delicious as these. We enjoyed it very much. Thank you for the service, we'll come again!

We can only confirm the other review: The menu sounds more interesting than the actual food. The couvert items were delicious: Good bread, tasty olives, and wonderful marinated carrot slices - but why were we served various fish spreads even though we explicitly wanted vegetarian food? The seitan and tofu slices were OK but just rice and a creamy sauce (one with mushrooms, the other with Dijon mustard) is plainly dull. The salad on the side looked fresh but was just as dull.

First of all: I am happy that this place exists and the food really tastes good. But: there are some things which prevent me to give a full thumbs up rating.
- when we came 30 minutes before closing time, we were told that the place closes soon and we need to hurry up. Hey, guys, this is a fast food place! And I really like the feeling of being welcome.
- others came 15 minutes later and were told that they can only have it as take away.
- the burgers were somewhat juicy and kept dripping on the plate. This is OK but please provide more napkins, possibly wet ones?
- we would feel more comfortable if you would use gloves when preparing food
- the mayonnaise and ketchup portions should be more generous
We tried two different burgers and the chips, everything was good. Before we come back, we will try out other places.

A small room with a huge table in the middle and small tables on the sides plus two small tables outside: The efficient service provides you with bread and you help yourself with the delicious spreads available on the tables. The family style, the simplicity of the room, and the good food made us feel at home.

Standard German Fare - but vegan
You are warned - by other reviewers and also by a sign at the door: Do not wear anything which is or looks like fur! Even fake fur trimmings are not welcome and should be hidden (at least). If you do not bring in this kind of problem, the staff is very friendly.
The food is standard German fare but all in vegan style. The kitchen does a very good job and presents almost look- and taste-alike German standard dishes: we tried Königsberger Klopse (meatballs in a caper sauce) and Hackbraten (meatloaf). Vegetables are cooked al dente - the perfect way to enjoy the flavors, the portions are just right. In fact, if you want to taste German favorites vegan style, this is a place to recommend. Have a good beer or a vegan wine with that.
But do not expect anything extraordinary - interesting ingredients, exotic spices, fascinating combinations of food - there are other places in Berlin to look for that.
