Worth Giving a Try (Again)
01 May 2016
I have frequented A Moveable Feast since the mid-80's and have watched it morph. When they moved to Echo Lane it seemed to change and I wasn't compelled to drive out to see them. I've gone a couple of times in the last 10 years. Today I went and was pleasantly surprised with a renewed menu and the return of the "Happy Burger" which was a staple any years ago. Actually, I used to go once a week to get their Happy Burgers when they were in the Montrose area. The food was fresh and delicious. I also had a juice which was equally good. Yes, this restaurant serves meat too but is heavy on vegetarian and vegan dishes. I would definitely recommend it.

I had the pleasure of dining at Cafe TH recently. I'd heard they had Vegan Pho (Vietnamese soup) as well as Vegan Curry. Once there, I saw their daily special of tofu marinated with tomatoes and onions in a garlic sauce. I couldn't contain myself and ordered it. It was absolutely delicious. Very delicate flavors and nuances. I also had the vegan spring rolls which were again quite delicious. The owner is very friendly and in tune with vegans. I'd recommend without reservation.

Delicious Dining in Kingwood
14 May 2013
I have long lamented the lack of veg offerings in the Humble Kingwood area. Not any more. Farm to Market opened recently and I've had the pleasure of dining there twice. Their concept is simple - fresh, local foods with an emphasis on healthy eating. I enjoyed their Vegetable Silo, which was very fresh, along with a delicious salad with lemon-thyme dressing. I have also enjoyed their veg chili, although I had to ask that no sour cream be dalloped on top. The owners are a young couple venturing out in the restaurant world. The wife of the duo, shared with me that she had been vegan and that her mother was vegetarian thus the knowledge and sensitivity to serving vegetarian food. They will cook veg dishes separately from their non-veg dishes. Also, they have vegan ice cream (one flavor only) that is non-existent in this local area. They have many gluten free items as well. I encourage the veg community in NE Houston to visit this restaurant and the enjoy the delicious fare as well as ensure that they stay in business. We need them!

Vegan Heaven in an Old Fashioned Taqueria
02 Jan 2012
I have had the great pleasure of dining at Radical Eats a few times. As a point of reference, I live about 40 miles away and will make the trek to have Staci's dishes.
The first time I went I totally missed the restaurant as it is housed in a small taqueria and, at the time, a smallish sign. The road in front is under construction so you have to really slow down and look to find but once you do, you will not miss it again.
I have had the most delicious tamales, enchiladas, guacamole, tacos and aqua frescas. Everything I've tried is very fresh. Also, at Thanksgiving I ordered more American traditional fare of lentil pot pie, sweet potatoes, green beans, and cranberry sauce. A great compliment when I joined my non-veg family.
Staci (the owner) also supports the veg community in Houston in so many ways. At our annual Gentle Thanksgiving celebration we all go to enjoy her delicious veg Thanksgiving fare, including delicious jalepeno poppers. At our First Houston Veg Fest, she was there serving her food and aqua frescas.
Treat yourself and try Radical Eats. You won't be disappointed. The vibe and food are good.

Vegan Gem in Whitefish, MT
22 Jul 2012
I had the pleasure of vacationing in Whitefish, MT this past week. The Green Tea House was one of the highlights. Very relaxing environment, large selection of teas and homemade vegan fares. Although they do not have a very extensive menu everything was fresh and local and, of course, vegan. I highly recommend this gem to anyone in the Whitefish area.

Fantastic Vegan in San Antonio
06 Nov 2011
I had the great pleasure of traveling to San Antonio this weekend. My first stop was at Vegeria, a new vegan restaurant there. The food was delicious. I had vegan posole, homemade salsa with chips, and an enchilada plate. Everything was perfect and fresh. The enchiladas had this delicious, subtle chile flavoring. The posole was a great gift to me. I have yearned for this dish since becoming a vegetarian (now vegan). The posole again had these delicate flavors that were very satisfying. To top it off the owners were super friendly and spent time chatting with me. As I parted this fair city, I picked up homemade tamales to go - spinach/carmelized onions and soyrizo/bean. Treat yourself and stop by this friendly and delicious restaurant. You will not be dissapointed

Great Vegan Options
10 Jul 2016
I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. The owner is the head chef and is very sensitive to vegan and vegetarian customers. From vegan chai to off the menu vegan vindaloo everything is exceptional and fresh. I highly recommend the aloo gobi, Cooley, paalak chaat, and, well every vegan item on their menu.

Great Variety of Veg Dishes
03 Jan 2012
I have been dining at Field of Green's since they opened. Originally they were a totally vegetarian restaurant with Chef Randy at the helm, who used to be with A Moveable Feast. Currently I believe they are about 80-90% vegetarian with many vegan dishes.
Through the years I have not once been disappointed with my dishes. I have tried most of their dishes and they have a very large variety of veg meats to choose from. I especially like their vegan pork and vegan fish. Their macrobiotic plate is a favorite, which I order regularly. Also, the vegan barbecue is very delicious. Lastly, I love their smoothies.
The vibe has changed from when they first opened. It used to be that they had this wonderfully eccentric waitress who gave the greatest vibe as well as jazz music predominantly being played in the background. It was relaxing and made we want to stay and visit.
Things have changed some but all in all you will not be disappointed. A great spot for fresh vegetarian food.

I have gone twice to this very nice vegetarian restaurant. Food is served buffet style and all food is clearly labeled as to whether it is vegetarian or vegan. Many vegan options, actually more than vegetarian. The food was fresh and delicious. Definite Indian influence but they have had barbecue tofu and mixed noodles, in addition to other dishes, if you prefer diversity. Fresh cooked naan/tortilla brought to your table. It's got a nice quiet vibe and everyone is very friendly. Parking is behind the building with the entrance on Golf street. It's a part of the Hare Krishna temple so go through the back gates and past the temple. You will see the sign for Govinda's clearly. Lovely, lovely spot. Now going to be a regular stop for me.

Vegan Food Truck becomes Vegan Restaurant
16 Jun 2012
I am a big fan of Green Seed Vegan. They recently moved to their own restaurant on the corner of Wheeler and Almeda. I immediately liked the ambiance of the restaurant. It's obvious that they took care in making this restaurant transform from a taqueria to vegan mainstay. It's walk-up service from the friendly owners or workers. I have to say everyone was happy. I had the "Dirty Burque" which is a fabulous veggie burger. It's made from a buckwheat patty, topped with avocado, chilies, arugula, cilantro - well a whole lot of wonderful. I downed it in no time flat. Their "Berry Blast" smoothie is made entirely from fruit and has no "milk" base. It is refreshing and, I have to say, one of the best smoothies in Houston. I highly recommend this restaurant to vegans and those aspiring so.

Great Vegetarian Restaurant
01 May 2016
I have frequented Green Vegetarian Restaurant quite a few times. I always tend to get their Chopped Barbecue Sandwich which is made from grain. It's quite delicious. Their nachos are super yummy and a bit addictive. On Sundays they have a brunch with breakfast menus. Their pancakes and migas (tofu) are very delicious. Their pecan hummus is one of their best dishes as well. I highly recommend them! The only downside is that they are closed on Saturdays.

Green and Delish

I visited San Antonio this past weekend and so happy to find a couple of really great vegan/vegetarian restaurants in this fair city. I went to the Flores location and had a fantastic lunch. I had "Mike's Sandwich" which has wham (which I believe is a vegan spam), spinach, guacamole and habanero jelly. Yum! The wham was cut very thin and was very delicious. The sandwich was huge. I also had a Ginger Bomb juice which was also quite delicious. To top it off the server was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant has a great vibe and was very busy when I went early afternoon. The waitress informed me that this location is now vegan. This must be new as their menu states that they can veganize any menu item. She also shared that their other location is vegetarian and not vegan. What a treat for those who live in San Antonio and those visiting.

The Best Tamales!
19 Apr 2016
I discovered Guudbelly via Facebook last summer. They had just begun and offered the most delicious vegan tamales and salsas. Oh, and a very delicious fruit drink too. I spent a fair amount of time in the Medical Center area of Houston and they kindly delivered my food to me. I wish I lived closer to enjoy them at the local farmer's markets. I highly recommend them and hope they open a store front or food truck soon.

Great variety of mock meats in a non-veg restauran
28 Dec 2010
I had the pleasure of revisiting Hunan Village last week. I made the trip into Houston to visit Pepper Tree, but they were closed. I had this incredible craving for mock beef and knew that Hunan Village had it. I was not disappointed. I had the vegetarian Hot and Sour soup and vegetarian beef with broccoli. It was very tasty and I was so happy that I visited them. The place had a fair amount of people there - all seemingly happy with their meals. Please do not be put off by a bad review - it's worth a visit. Many veg options, even on their lunch specials.

I love Jenni's Noodle House. I've been frequenting them since they began in mid-town. They are very veggie/vegan friendly and were so before most restaurants got on the bandwagon. Their owners, Scott and Jenni, are wonderful people. Some people spoke of blandness. Part of their appeal is they have sauces that are added to many of their dishes (especially bun bowls). Their soups are flavorful and I highly recommend "Angry Udon" which is delicious and spicy too. Lots to choose from: Art Car Curry, TNG, Faux Pho, Lemongrass Tofu, Angry Udon, Seaweed Salad, Buddha Soba, Salt and Pepper Tofu, and the list goes on - all Vegan! Give yourself a treat and visit them. They have a few locations. I find the Heights to be my favorite.

A beautiful respid in Atascocita
08 Feb 2011
I stumbled upon Nara Thai about three years ago. They are in a rather non-descript shopping center with little or no advertising. The food is fantastic and some of the best Thai I have had. They have many tofu dishes and each of them are very tasty and spicy. Wonderful ambiance, non-rushed, beautiful artwork and peaceful restaurant. All who I've introduced to Nara have gone back and enjoyed. I haven't tried their mock duck but plan to soon. For those living in Humble/Kingwood/Atascocita it's a great spot.

I love Pepper Tree. I discovered it a few years ago and make the pilgrimage about once every two or three months. If I didn't live 50 miles away, I'd visit more often. The food is always fresh and there is great variety. I tend to always get seconds when I'm there. I agree that their miso soup is delicious. I can't say that I have a favorite dish as everything I've tried has been good. I highly recommend a visit.
