Cook & Phillip Park CRN, Sydney

Still a winner

18 Aug 2013

I have been going to Bodhi for over 20 years and I still love it! From the number of different moves, the menu changes and price changes, it is still fabulous. When vegan asian food was a novelty in Australia, Bodhi got me through and I still visit it when back in Sydney.
The location is just beautiful, the meals are still great.
I love yum cha. The only thing that isn't so fabulous is the increase in price, but I guess to pay for the location and it is in Sydney the price is fair.

Great for breakfast

23 Jul 2015

Fabulous, yummy, healthy vegan cafe in the centre of the Sunshine Coast. Everything I have ordered has been terrific with one exception - I am not keen on the nachos and think the sauce and the way it is done it ordinary (mind you a friend of mine liked it).

The breakfast food (pancakes, rosti stack) are so good, the smoothies, the desserts are worth coming back for again and again.

Prices are very good.

It is next to IGA and inside Coastal Wellbeing

Yummy raw food

17 Aug 2013

I love the food at From Earth and Water, although I have to be honest and say I can't stand all the noise from the blenders. if I go there now I just order takeaway. The food is a work of art to me. A little on the pricey side, but raw food tends to be. Yum, yum yum!

Favourite place to eat

21 May 2015

I have been vegan for over 20 years and this place is my favourite vegan restaurant.

The food is so beautifully presented, creative yummy options. The decor, location and lovely staff complement the fabulous food.

Great portion sizes.

Hit and miss

13 Jun 2014

This place is now in Mooloolaba.
They are not raw now and DEFINITELY NOT VEGAN.

They sell cow's milk and meals with eggs in them.

They have clearly succumbed to public pressure and probably market pressure and their high rent.

What is worst they perpetuate the myth of "Happy Cows" because the milk they use is organic.

For anyone that is vegan because they love animals I would recommend that you don't patron this cafe because what they are doing in down right dangerous.

If you are interested in vegan food on the Sunshine Coast please visit New Earth Cafe in Coolum, Its Rawsome in Rosemont and Kind Living Cafe in Maleny. All these places sell vegan food and they actually care about animals.

Rather Disappointed

30 Aug 2014

The first time I have been back since they have changed owners and changed name from Kind Living Cafe to Living Kitchen and I was not impressed!

The food and drinks were SO over-priced for the size. Normally I am not too upset if it is really yummy - but it wasn't!!

Charging $10 for a small smoothie that tastes ordinary and $17 for a so called 'burger' that was also ordinary and not a burger (it was a salad) is just not on.
I don't care if you are raw - it still has to be yummy and value for money.

They are more than just pies

17 Aug 2013

I wish I lived closer to Peace Pies.
Peace Pies is a great place to have lunch and then go for a walk around the corner along the beautiful Redcliffe esplanade. I love their pies, but they more than just pies. They have a to-die-for lasagne, a fabulous crumbed mushroom portobello burger, a seafood basket, curly fries, the most wonderful desserts and they have specials including raw meals. Yummy smoothies as well. Their vegan grocery selection is growing all the time.
I love the ambience at Peace Pies and the staff are lovely. If you go on the weekend and order a meal you may have to wait a wee bit, but that gives you time to relax and inspect the menu further to figure out what you will eat next time.
Peace Pies also run 'suspended pies' where you can pay for a pie and it is given to local homeless person.
They are now open on Friday nights as well.

Lovely little Asian vegan stall

17 Aug 2013

When I lived in Darwin I would pop to the markets in Rapid Creek whenever I could to get food from this stall. There are about 5 - 6 items. Most of them mock meats. I loved the satay sticks. Yum food and nowhere else in Darwin can you find some vegan fast food like this.

Shop 8/90 Markeri Street, Mermaid Waters, Gold Coast

Love all the choices and yum cha

18 Aug 2013

This is a great place for asian veg food and a yum cha.Huge variety of items, great if you like mock meats, most food is vegan.

Good and bad

17 Aug 2013

They have a few vegan items but it is not extensive. The pies were extremely yummy and the soup was fab. Too bad they don't seem to know exactly what vegan means as they served me butter and roll with the supposedly vegan soup meal. I did suggest nuttelex, but they weren't very interested! The salad with with roasted vegetables plopped on top was not impressive at all and I wouldn't recommend it! The attitude of the owner is a tad rude. Sitting outside is quiet pleasant and relaxing.

Lovely place

16 Jul 2014

This is a quaint place to visit and great for gluten free food. They always have a few vegan items on the menu.
They have an outdoor dining as well and dogs are welcome.

Seems more like a butcher shop to me

17 Aug 2013

Other than a few dairy free items, and toiletry lines most of the items can be found in supermarkets. The place has 3 large freezers devoted to organic meat and one tiny one for other frozen items with about 3 frozen veg items which can be bought cheaper at supermarkets - so it is not terribly vegetarian friendly. Yes they have hummus and tofu and some organic vegies, but you can can find those items at supermarkets these days. When I saw a sign on the store window saying "rabbits for sale - for pets or to eat" it confirmed to me this was not a place for vegans.

Mostly vegan!

24 Jul 2015

Holistic Mamma is a quaint cafe ( and beauty bar) selling mainly vegan treats. It is definitely worth the lovely drive out to Dayboro. We ate vegan pies and vegan donuts which were both yummy. Our dogs were welcome on the relaxing balcony. Many of the options are gluten and sugar free. We will definitely be back and maybe for a cruelty-free beauty treatment.

Yummy!

18 Apr 2014

It was so wonderful to discover this lovely burger joint at Eumundi markets.
With a great selection of vegan burgers I didn't know which one to select. I got the tempeh burger and it was fantastic.
I will be going back to Eumundi markets just for another burger!

First Iku experience - fabulous

18 Aug 2013

Fabulous takeaway vegan food. I wish Iku were in Qld.
The food looks so good and looks healthy. I had a wrap on one occasion and soup on the other. Both were very tasty.
I wish they used the word vegan

Cheap and a great place to visit

18 Aug 2013

This is a lovely place to visit. Book ahead and let them know if you are vegan. There are normally 2- 3 hot meals to choose from and a salad. It costs $10. I believe from memory dessert may be extra. The food is well worth it. Also worth the drive to experience the Chenrezig institute; investigate the Buddhist bookshop, stroll around the grounds and you may be even able to do a meditation depending on when you go.

926 Maleny-Montville Rd, Maleny

Worth the drive to Maleny

22 May 2015

I have been to Live Foods Cafe a number of times now and it is worth the drive to Maleny just to have a nice lunch.

The menu is simple, but very tasty. The tarts, the salads, the soup, the hot drinks and all desserts are yum, yum yum.

Presented beautifully and the service is friendly and quick.

tasy and inexpensive

18 Aug 2013

I wondered around the streets determined to find Loving Hut in Blacktown and finally found it! I recommend bringing a map. It is about a 5 min walk from station. The range of food is not as extensive as the Loving Hut in Brisbane which has western and asian food. The meal I ate ( I can't actually remember now) but I remember getting 2 things, enjoyed very much and I was stuffed. Reasonably priced. The communication was somewhat challenging as the person serving me clearly couldn't speak English very well or understand it very well. She tried very hard and was nice, but I kind of wonder why they would get someone to serve that doesn't understand English. Maybe most of their customers are non-English speaker. Experience still enjoyable.
