Radical Eats!!!

Antidote is a fun little coffe/tea house in the heart of the Heights. They have a fridge in front with lots of tasty vegan food provided by Radical Eats. I've tried a handful of their tamales and their moussaka; all was great. It's a great option to eat there or to grab and go and is super affordable. The menu changes all the time, you just have to dig around the fridge and see what they have. You can also go to the Radical Eats website to get a better idea of what they might have.

My stomach is growling right now thinking about their black-eyed pea fritters! They are soooo good! For my entree I had a black-eyed pea stew type dish with coconut rice and fried plantains. Everything was amazing and there was a massive amount of it. Probably enough to split, which helps because it's a little on the expensive side. This was definitely my favorite place that we tried while I was in New Orleans. You must try the fritters!!

The food was okay, but I definitely agree that it's a little bland and simple. I did like the vegan cole-slaw though. I actually would have preferred more of that and less of my sandwich.

Great food, but not amazing.

Blossom was great, the food I had was great and the food my friend had was great, but it was just missing that certain little something that would have made it truly amazing. It is very swanky and expensive and the presentation was beautiful, but for that price the food should have been knock you over the head amazing and it just wasn't. Again I cannot stress enough that the food was really good and I love that it was all vegan, I just wish I had been blown away.

Best Vegan Breakfast in Texas!!!

Hands down this is the best vegan breakfast you will find in Texas! The tofu scramble is out of this world and the portions are amazing! A must if you're in Austin.

Vegan Friendly!

They don't have a whole lot on the menu that's vegan, but they are willing to accommodate and are very friendly about it. Their rosemary focaccia bread is vegan and they allows substitutions on their sandwiches. They also had vegan pastels clearly labeled. This is the perfect stop for vegans when visiting the historic sites in town. It's just a few blocks away from the Lincoln museum.

"not many vegan options at all"

To be fair I haven't eaten here, but that's because when I called to ask about their vegan options, the woman told me they used to have some, but now they don't really have many at all. She did say they had vegetarian options.

Definitely more of a to go place, especially in the summer. Had a great vegan chicken salad sandwich and a refreshing beverage. The food is simple, but good, and very resonably priced. The service was great as well. I would definitely recommend.

Better Burger Indeed!!

This place made me so happy, I really wish they had one in my city. What a perfect idea; a veggie friendly fast food burger place! I had the vegan soy burger with vegan mayonnaise and fries. All came out very quickly and was delicious. My friend had the veggie burger, which was amazing as well. This place is great!

Definitely the best raw food I've ever had! Everything tastes amazing and is incredibly flavorful. It is expensive, but it's totally worth it. It's certainly not a place I could afford to eat at more than once a month, but it's a nice treat. Desserts were pretty darn good too. I highly recommend the brownie; one of the best vegan brownies I've had in a long time. There's not a lot of space to eat; there were about 10 bar stools in the main part of the building in addition to the patio area, which was enclosed, but would still probably be too cold during the winter.

I'm always excited to see a vegetarian mexican place, and this did not dissapoint. I had the bread steak, which was pretty good (though I've had better at Mr. Natural in Texas). Beans and rice were great and the juice I had was amazing! I would highly reccomend to anyone in the area. Metered parking, but I was able to find a spot right up front.

Good for Vegetarians

Not a lot of options for Vegans but you can make substitutions on the sandwiches and what not to suit your needs. The owner is very nice and helpful; the staff is hit or miss on their knowledge of what is and isn't vegan though. Probably better for vegetarians as opposed to vegans.

Respectable black bean burger

This is good option if your vegan and your staying in the French Quarter. The black bean burger is a store bought patty on white bread buns served with iceburg lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles and fries. It's pretty standard bar food, but was still pretty good. The bar itself is nice and has lots of seating options. They also run ghost tours out of the bar every night.

Probably will not be back

First I'll start with the location. It's located in the Park Shops downtown, so unless you work in the area or already in the area, it's not really practical to just go here for the food. The parking is either metered and hard to come by or in the garage for a fee.

As far as the food goes, you first have to fill out your order on a little clipboard and get in line. I ordered the "vegan wrap" which comes on a honey wheat tortilla, which I told them makes it not vegan; he said he would bring it up with the manager. It's supposed to come with spinach, avocado, carrots, broccoli, cucumbers, sweet corn, chick peas, sundried tomatoes, oil and vinegar. I mention the ingredients because what it actually consisted of was a lot of spinach, three little cubes of avocado, a few bits of carrots, broccoli, cucumbers and corn kernels, about 5 chick peas, a TON of sundried tomatoes and a TON of oil and vinegar. The sundried tomatoes and vinegar were so overpowering I couldn't even finish my wrap.

On the plus side you can make your own wrap to order, but they still only have the honey wheat tortilla. They also have salads and soups for more vegan or veggie options. They also have baked goods made by Sinful Bakery.

I'd be willing to try different things on the menu, but based on my one trip it's really not worth me making the hellish trip into downtown.

Good food, wish it was closer.

I had the battered tofu burger and it was pretty amazing! They offer a breakfast/brunch on Sundays, that's pretty good as well, but would be better if it was buffet style, as opposed to just getting a set amount of food, which isn't a whole lot. I really do love the tofu burger though and would come here all the time if it wasn't so far away! There's no sign by the road either, so it can be hard to find. FYI, it's right across from the Foodland.

Vegan Food Truck Yay!

I have been here three times so far and I have to say everything I have tried has been consistantly yummy! I'm in the process of trying everything on the menu and I haven't been dissapointed yet! I highly recommend the Tosh and the 'Illy Cheesesteak.

Now for the logistics:
The truck is located on Wheeler street, on the curb. There is no parking other than on the surrounding streets and there is no outdoor seating. Because everything is made fresh, there is an approximate 10 to 20 minute wait time which can be avoided if you order your food via phone/text. They actually recommend texting your order and then they'll text you back letting you know when it'll be ready. I highly recommend doing this as Houston can get pretty hot and there's not much shade at the location.

I thought I had died and gone to vegan heaven. This was probably the best vegan food I've ever had! It cracked me up a bit that it was so swanky and that we had to make a reservation, but it was all so worth it, as was the cost which was about 20 dollars a plate. I would gladdly pay it again and again if I lived in the area. I ordered the seitan steak and it was unbelievable. It actually had a very steaky flavor to it which I hadn't tasted in a very long time. My boyfriend and I split an entree and an appetizer and it was enough food for the both of us, and made it a lot cheaper. I will definitely be back if I'm ever in the area.

You get a huge amount of great food for a really great price! The staff was also very friendly and helpful. The store part of it was a little pricey, but is super convenient if you're in the neighborhood.
