Delicious Veggie Burgers!
Very healthy food--you can taste the pure ingredients. I definitely love their homemade veggie burger, especially the freshly baked bun. I walked in grumpy, weary from my travels, and walked out a "happy cow!" Very nice bakery selection. I didn't have room for soup, but it seemed that all the other patrons were greatly enjoying theirs, and I was told it is their specialty. It is just a nice place to have breakfast or lunch--or just for late afternoon hanging out. The staff and patrons are very friendly. If you are traveling the Oregon coast, you absolutely must stop in Astoria and visit the Blue Scorcher Bakery Cafe.

You would have to be a total prude not to enjoy Aunt Mary's. Tell me where else you can purchase adult party supplies of all flavors, gifts for your open-minded family members, have a glass of wine, sit with the friendliest blind-deaf dog in Oregon at a decently-stocked bar, and have delicious veggie food with pornographic names? Yeah, didn't think so. If you are on the Oregon coast, GO HERE. Seriously. Aunt Mary rules.

OMG... Hits the Spot
Wonderful food, beautiful people, relaxing atmosphere! 5-stars in all aspects. This is the best Chinese restaurant (vegetarian or otherwise) I have ever dined at. The plates are a feast for the eyes, the nose and most importantly the tongue. Organic ingredients are the key to the delicious flavor. Very spacious; there is also a party-room. Immaculately clean. I have only nice things to say about this place. If you love eggplant, try their Eggplant with Garlic Sauce. I highly recommend Bay Leaf, you must try them!!!

No House, Just a Truck
I give these guys 3 Happy Cows; my curry-obsessed husband gives them 5. The good: cheap, huge portions, authentic, extensive menu. The bad: crowded, dirty, a little bland. If you're crazy for Indian food, go. Otherwise, maybe not.

Cute Cafe with Good Food and Great Mocha
A quiet little place for studying or chilling out. Very, very tasty Peanut Noodles. I tried their mocha based on a review below--they were right, it is excellent. You can actually taste the mocha (not too sweet). It is just sooo smooth. I also loved painting which adorn the cafe--they are just so peaceful and full of love. It is just a very cozy, warming place.

Questionable Intention, Lackluster Experience
Some folks go veg for health, some out of compassion, and others simply out of cultural tradition. Vege Thai seems to be in the last category; be warned that their dairy and egg are of typical, factory-farmed origin. When I learned this, I knew I would never return, but unfortunately I stuck around and ordered that day. As for healthiness, they also fail in this category. A little bit of MSG is okay with me--it does have some valid uses--but Vege Thai definitely overdoes it. I swole up like a balloon the next day, a balloon with unquenchable thirst! The food and service are okay. And by "okay," I mean JUST okay. I tipped out of courtesy only. I suppose if you are hungry, and happen to be **extremely** close-by, go ahead and try it out. Otherwise, forego the horrible Thai Pop music and look elsewhere... This place is sadly lacking in the "good energy" feel that permeates most vegetarian joints... Of all the veggie restaurants I've visited in Portland, easily at the bottom of the list.

Not Panda Express
Food: 5 Happy Cows. Atmosphere: 2 Happy Cows. I understand why this restaurant gets mixed reviews. The menu here is based on authentic Chinese recipes, so if you are expecting American fast food-style "Chinese," look elsewhere. If you are more familiar with traditional Chinese cooking, then you will probably enjoy. All of this said, the food is good! Unfortunately, the restaurant looks like it hasn't been updated in about 10-20 years, and the owners are a bit nosy. If you're downtown and craving for Chinese, check it out--otherwise there are better options. My husband had the Orange Chicken and it was delicious.

The food at Papa G's is second-to-none in quality and taste. Their signature creation, Papa G's Tofu, is unbeatable. A very eco-conscious place--the building itself is constructed of recycled materials and the unused food is turned into compost. The only drawback is the weird pricing scheme. For example, I ordered a plate with 2 entrés and 2 sides. I asked for the "peanut sauce," because it looked delicious, and then when I began considering my second side, I was told that the rice which the peanut sauce is served over counted as a side... what the? Also, the beverages are INSANELY priced--bring your own!!! But of course the food is the main attraction, and here Papa G's shines. If it weren't for the wacky pricing, I'd give 5 Happy Cows.

Their to-go container is enviro-friendly. A+
They got the taste just right! Attractive dishes, healthy combination, interesting and friendly staff and awesome atmosphere. It is just my taste. But like one of the reviews said they do have open mic (only one night). About the dish, peanut noodles, I loved it but it could be better if the vegetables are not overcooked and noodles are cooked with less sauce. Note to chef: try medium tofu instead of firm. Well, it's an Asian dish, maybe just needs a little Asian input, so here you go. Decent selection of organic groceries is a plus. Keep up the great work.

The food on your table matches the picture!!!
This is the only restaurant I have ever seen in my life that has food will really look the same as the pictures on the wall. Cheap price, tasty food, cute restaurant and nice people. Only one thing, I personally think it's a little bit salty and that caused me to be swollen the next morning. It's not a big deal, I will just ask them to go easy on the salt next time.
