Wonderful!

24 Jul 2012

The Candle restaurants have consistently been some of my favorite dining options in the city. Everything my friends and I have tasted has been excellent and some of my omnivore friends said they enjoy the food enough to consider becoming veggie- score(!). These restaurants are my first vegan and gluten free experiences in New York City, they have never disappointed and raise the bar high for others to try meet- the perfect dining introduction to NYC. I love that the menu changes seasonally, they support the local farmers and buy organic produce, their menu is inventive and delicious, they are eco conscious and give back, they have a great selection of beverages of all kinds, too. Yummy!

Great pizza!

Cafe Viva (both of them) have plentiful options of toppings, cheese and crust type. They serve Daiya cheese and are one of the few places whose gluten-free crust is actually vegan; others often have egg, dairy, and/or some other animal product. This location has had one of the most friendly and helpful staff members, who brightened my day, which is a huge bonus to have delicious food and a smile.

Yummy!

The food and drinks are fantastic and the location is perfect. If it's a sunny day, you can take your food to go and eat up on The Highline Park. The atmosphere is rustic and cozy, the staff is friendly and the amazing food makes it even greater. Also, a perk for those with Celiac/gluten free, they are going to be creating all of their items gluten free, which is wonderful to not worry about cross-contamination.

otarian

The concept image of Otarian is great: healthy "fast" food, eco-friendly, on a global mission. However, look behind the curtain and this "mission" has failed on all accounts. I would write a more detailed and full review; however, the owners are notorious for targeting negative reviews and slandering the writers, so I will leave it up to people to choose where you eat wisely. I'd suggest skipping the airplane food and going for quality veggie places where you can also trust the practices. There are plenty not far away, fast and slow dining options.

Scrumptious!

My friends and I have dined at V-note multiple times and each time, the food and service have been fantastic. The atmosphere is cozy, great wine and food selections and they have an extensive gluten-free menu, too. My omnivore friends have eaten here and love it, and it's wonderful to share that compassionate food choices don't taste bland, but they taste incredible. Plus, it's great that the entire restaurant has a conscience, has eco-practices, and supports/promotes the farm sanctuary.

Yummy! Would give five cows if I could!

Amazing pizza! This restaurant serving primarily pizza entree's is wonderful- tasty food, nice staff, and enjoyable atmosphere. I love the extensive vegan menu, that many of the vegan items can be made gluten free (which is sadly unusual in restaurants with gluten free options), and that vegan and gluten free items are prepared separately and are cooked on their individual pan and separate oven. Also, it is nice to be able to eat out at a place where my omnivore friends are happy to eat, too- they always taste and enjoy my pizza, too. The menu is set, which can be annoying not to craft your own topping selections and pizza; however, their gourmet pizza creations are very tasty, so it doesn't make a difference. The Etna is my favorite gf vegan pizza- it's incredibly delicious!

Favorite!

24 Jul 2012

I continually recommend and take friends of all dietary choices and restrictions here and everyone loves it. I think I am addicted to their fantastic, mouth-watering-wonderful foods, their seasonal specials and seasonal specialty cocktails, their extensive and delicious menu and beverage selection....don't get me started on their desserts. The staff is always very nice and helpful, the atmosphere is welcoming, there's a great music selection and various seating options. The menu is helpfully labeled including items that are gluten free, wheat free, sugar free, nut free, etc; the owner is gluten-intolerant or Celiac and they're very conscientious about cross-contamination (just make sure you tell them if you have a dietary restriction). Plus, it's all vegan and kosher and very yummy!

Best Grocer/Goods Store!

24 Jul 2012

This is my favorite grocery store in the city, it's difficult not to write endlessly positive things about it and it's too difficult to think of negatives.
