biggest burger ever

a very friendly manager, really tasty food (if you consider they don't use garlic-onions either) and bigger portion sizes than usual. they are expanding the menu but prices are about to go up too. so go grab some indian taste now :) the prices are cheap for us dollar or euro payers but expensive for a turkish student.

Vegetarian Lahmacun is their masterpiece
02 Jan 2012
Altough lahmacun dish has roots towards Middle East, it is a very popular all around Turkey too. Many sources now specify it as Turkish delicasy or Turkish Pizza. If you are in Istanbul as a vegetarian or vegan, you can also taste this delicious food in its vegetarian version which is unique to this restaurant. Meat is replaced with chopped garlic and mushrooms. I am a vegetarian Istanbulite and I either prepare my own veggie lahmacun at home or go to Ciya when I visit Asian Side of Istanbul. Do not forget to wrap your lahmacun after filling it with radish, parsley and onion pieces.

is this a brand new idea? it's wonderful anyway

Stuffing falafel with vegetables such as spinach or cabbage turns it into something new, and really yummy! It's not same thing as you eat falafel wrap with fried vegetables. Those vegetables lie at the heart of falafel when it gets fried in oil.

I did my birthday gathering here
10 Jan 2012
Unbelievable but this small-sized restaurant took 30 people that day. I did my birthday celebration for the first time after years and Govinda made it one to remember! I am told that this is also their first birthday reception.
They even made a big vegan birthday cake for me.

Vegan Collective of Istanbul meets here!

Need more words? This is the hub for vegan community of Istanbul (Vegan Kolektif) . So delicious foods and even better people who both owns the place and also prepares/brings the food.

saved from grocery stores around taksim, vegetables are cooked in easiest but not blandest way. they are usually spicy and juicy. staples of menu are oven roasted vegetables (carrot, aubergine, zucchini, potato) with curry sauce, spinach stew, rice stuffed pepper (biber dolmasi) and salad (tomato, lettuce, green pepper). pasta and lentil often accompany those staples.

falafel wrap with hummus is now 9 tl. bad for turkish lira earners, still good for euro/dollar earners.
not the best falafel i have ever tasted, but hey this is istanbul, how many falafel places are there in total? so just go and support this independent small enterprise.

now vegetarian friendly

third floor is turned into old style raki house (meyhane) so they began serving fish etc. but lots of mezzes (cold, olive oil based mostly vegan dishes) are there too. better to change its status into veg-friendly.
Caferaga Mahallesi Nailbey Sokak, Unit 15, Kadikoy, Istanbul, Turkey
mixture of everything good
31 Dec 2013
their wrap is a mixture. you are free to choose almost anything vegan into your wrap from chickpeas to falafel. at the end, your stomach is full and your wallet weights almost same. plus it is located in an area which definitely needed one meatless place.

lack of information about truly vegan products
09 Nov 2015
a very friendly young lad and a middle aged lady (maybe his mom?) runs this place; we ate vegan baklava here, only to find out later on that it was not totally vegan. owners lack the information about which product in turkey is totally vegan. though they probably insist to serve vegan baklava; their ingredients (as i confirmed) include vegetable margarine which always contains %1 milk in turkey.

the best western vegan food in istanbul
19 Apr 2016
some items are known for vegans all around the world and some are just created by tight aggressive community members; but be sure that all of them tasty and if you are after western style vegan food such as burgers and wraps; that is the best place for it in istanbul. after savoury options, i was also amazed that they have a cashew dessert which tastes almost same with magnum ice-cream with almond.

The Best Falafel in Istanbul!
21 Sep 2014
Just try them alone with no pitta/wrap to taste all different flavours within. Little hummus and parsley topping would not hurt :)
I asked the secret recipe and found out that they not just blend ingredients but use a mincing machine to grind everything. Turns out they also mix green pepper and parsley together with typical ingredients of falafel.
You can also buy frozen falafel in a package to cook at home. A kilo is 12 liras. (4 euro)

Vegan meatballs, schnitzel and even doner kebab
17 Oct 2012
Meat analogue products are just introduced in Turkey but they are still sold in a few places. This is one of them. The brand for those products is Veggy. As the owner turned to be vegan couple years ago, he started to stock more and more vegan and vegetarian products that can hardly be found anywhere else.

Literally meaning Green House, this was the centre of Greens Party in Turkey until they dissolved several months ago. The first of November Vegan Day also celebrated here with large vegan food selection, films and speeches. Ah yes, food, they are nice and staff are aware of the fact if you go there. They sometimes serve olive oil based Turkish food (Agean style, mostly vegan).
