Great Restaurant Serving Tasty Food

15 Jun 2013

We visited this restaurant for the first time, and were very impressed. The staff are friendly and helpful and speak good English. The menu is fairly extensive, and includes breakfast, pastries, desserts, Khmer food, Western food, sandwiches and snacks. Prices are very reasonable - Khmer main meals cost $2-3. Food is MSG-free. Very easy to find. On Street 278 between streets 57 & 63.

Excellent Food & Service

24 Jul 2013

We had food here twice while in Siem Reap, and both the food and service were excellent. We had the green curry, red curry and sour grilled papaya soup. They serve brown rice as well. Small, cozy restaurant that gets full early evening. Quite a few people were turned away while we were there because they were full.

Basic Veg Thai Place

29 Mar 2013

This is a very basic Thai place. The food is ok, but has been mostly cold when I've been there. I think you have to go very early to get hot/warm food. Before 11 am some days most of the food is finished, and what's left is fairly cold. ok if you're in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat there,

Excellent Indian Food

25 Jul 2013

There are lots of veggie choices on the menu, and all food is cooked to order, so you can ask for anything you don't want to be left out. We had food here tonight, and it was among the best Indian food I've had in this part of the world. The portions are very big as well.

We'll definitely be going back before we leave.

I recommend the Aloo Gobi and Garlic Dal. Main dishes are around $3.50 each.

Definitely Open - Map Wrong

08 May 2014

This place is definitely open because we've walked passed it most days this week. It's at the junction of Dechanuchit Road and Sa Song Road. Diagonally opposite the 7 Eleven shop. We went to eat the twice, but most of the hot dishes were already sold out, as was the brown rice. We got there at 11 am one day and 10 am the next. So we haven't eaten there yet. They sell noodle dishes as well, but I'm not a big fan of noodles. Walk up Dechanuchit Road and there's a fairly big veggie place near right at the top on right hand side. Excellent.

I'll update this if we get to eat there.

Great Food, Great Service, Great Staff

19 May 2013

I usually only eat at vegetarian places, but with not much choice in our area of Hanoi, I decided to give Kangaroo Cafe a go, despite the not so good reviews on here. And I was pleasantly surprised. I have a stir-fry with cashews, and it was really good and really big. Lots of different veggies, and cooked perfectly. I will go back again, as they have a few other things on the menu that I want to try. Not sure why this gets such bad reviews. Staff are very friendly and very helpful, And restaurant is very clean. It's a good place to hang out.

I would give this 5 stars, but 4 is the maximum for non-veg places.

I don't agree with the happycow rating system that allows minimum of 2 for veg places and maximum of 4 for non-veg. I can see some kind of logic there, but some veggie places I've been to don't even deserve a 1, while some non-veg really do deserve a 5.

Excellent Choice Of Vegan Food

15 Sep 2013

We ate here last night and are planning to go back for both lunch and dinner today. The food here is excellent, and the menu is extensive. The staff don't speak much English, but the menu has pictures of all the dishes, so it's easy to order. They also have red rice, which is a bonus.

The prices are pretty reasonable for a Westerner, but a little expensive for locals. We paid 96,000 IDR ($8.50) for two main dishes, two portions of rice, avocado juice, water, and ice cream to take away. So not too bad at all. And all the food is vegan.

Restaurant is very large, with seating for around 60 people.

A previous review mention that there is a gas station nearby, but this has now been demolished. The restaurant is easy to find though - it's on the corner of Jalan Biliton and Jalan Sumbawa.

We Love This Place

17 May 2013

We went there today and had the set menu for 60,000 VND (under $3). Great value for what you get. Food was tasty and well presented. We'll be going back here regularly. There are two dining rooms, and someone below mentioned that foreigners and locals are use different rooms. That's definitely not true.

Great Food, Great Price

27 May 2013

This is the cheapest veggie food I've had anywhere. We paid 15,000 VND for two plates of rice and veggies, and one plate of about 6 fresh spring rolls. We also both had a small bowl of soup with the rice. Iced tea was free. So that's only $1.20 for food for two people.

One of the girls working there spoke a little English, but if you go to the back you can see into the kitchen and point to what you want.

It was packed with local people when we went there, which is usually a good sign.

We'll definitely be going back there, as we're staying a few days.

Highly recommended.

Friendly Staff & Vegan Food

16 Sep 2013

We ate here tonight and were very happy with our meal. We had Aloo Gobi and Chollay (Chick Peas), which were both cooked perfectly for me. The staff member on duty was very friendly and helpful, and also spoke quite good English. Our hotel is nearby, so we'll be eating here again. Very large and clean restaurant, and easy to find. Opens 10 am and closed around 9 or 10 pm, depending on how busy it is.
