Small charming bistro

26 Nov 2010

Small bistro with a small selection of vegetarian snacks (soup, sandwiches), bakery and organic mini market. Also some home deco stuff is sold there.
We had some soup there and some bread and pastry and we bought homemade organic jam. The food quality was very high, the atmosphere very relaxed and friendly. Cute little house that used to be the "fire fighters' house" of the village.

Needs improvement

15 Jul 2012

Small place with very limited seating options, mostly bistro tables. Atmosphere therefore not very relaxing or inviting.
Food tasted good and there is plenty of choice - unfortunately very limited vegan options for the sauces.
Downside was the friendliness - it appeared that returning customers were greeted and treated quite friendly with a small talk whereas walk-in or first time customers like us did not encounter a lot of attention which did not make us feel welcome. What a pity. S

Delicious Vegetarian Turkish fast food

17 Aug 2012

Cesa Cig Koefte is the first outlet in Germany of a Turkish fast food chain, serving only meet-free products. It's special Bulgur based delicious offerings, with the Cesa wrap even being vegan.
For only 3 EUR you get a great wrap with the special Bulgur paste and fresh salads. There are a few more options, also some sweet Baklava.
Very nice and modern interior, few tables for dine in; take out of course available.
Extremely friendly staff; explaining all the details.
Highly recommended!

Creative gourmet cuisine in the black forest

02 Jan 2011

The least thing you would expect in this small remote village deep in the black forest is an organic all vegetarian restaurant. It looks like a typical rural restaurant where you usually would only get meat. But step in and you'll find a nicely decorated small restaurant with totally relaxed atmosphere.
The owners are long-time vegetarians, having travelled the world they serve a creative vegetarian cuisine with gourmet touch. The menu changes regularly (depending on the season and its products) and offers not too many but enough choices of delicious starters, soups, main dishes and desserts. Everything is prepared fresh, it's organic, and fairtrade or regional - and absolutely delicious!
MUST: try their out of this world vegan chocolate mousse. You won't stop eating! Promised!
The owners run the restaurant completely on their own, yet they manage to artistically coordinate everything right on time and just in sequence. :o)
And if you can't (or don't want to) leave anymore, just stay overnight in one of their rooms, as they also offer some accommodation for guests who want to enjoy fantastic vegetarian dishes and the nature of the black forest.

Interesting to try once, most likely not again

05 Jan 2013

Located close to Ku'damm in Berlin, the Mano Verde positions itself as top of the league vegan and raw cuisine. And you can tell by the price they charge.
The food is definitely tasty and very very good, depending on what you chose also really creative. But then again, nothing THAT extraordinary to justify the price.
We had to wait very long (without any explanation) between starters and main (almost 1 hour) and the restaurant wasn't even full. The size of the portions are...well....small.
It feels more like a place to see and be seen.

Always great for a quick stop

18 Aug 2012

Part of the famous Loving Hut Chain this outlet at Suntec is conveniently located for the Marina Bay area. I always enjoy coming back here and have some of their endless vegan options, e.g. lemon delight, oyster mushrooms, etc.
There is a set meal option, so that you get rice and soup with every main you chose. I can especially recommend the rose lemon juice! Very friendly staff and efficient service.

vegan pizza - not yet

18 Nov 2013

We went there to check out the vegan pizza as this place specially advertises pizza & pasta. Well, vegan pasta is not a big challenge so we tried the vegan pizza. To be honest, not really recommended. Though it may be the closest thing currently possible with vegan cheese, it still isn't convincing. Rather dry and not cheesy.
Atmosphere and staff quite nice and friendly.

Hard to find, but worth the search

05 Jan 2013

Located right in the middle of usually crowded Mauerpark Flohmarkt.
Bit difficult to find, but once there, it was worth the search.
Very small menu (actually none): burger with huge selection of toppings and usually two to three sauces.
Very tasty!

Nice burger / falafel / hot dog place

11 Feb 2012

Small diners in Bremen with big selection of burgers, falafels and hot dogs.
Most of the items are vegan and clearly marked. Somewhat odd opening hours for a "fast food" snack-style place (opens at 1pm).
Food very tasty; quick service.

One of the best Chinese Vegetarian Restaurants

25 Dec 2010

Thanks to happycow and the VegOut app we just discovered a new great place for vegetarians.
It's a beautiful Chinese restaurant not far from central Ku'damm. But not like the "typical" Chinese you may think of. It has a very relaxed atmosphere, stylish yet simple. Not too big a place. Extremely friendly staff, very caring. Gives lots of explanations about how they produce their dishes. Nice selection of vegetable and mock meat dishes with incredibly tasty flavors. Spicy yet not too hot.
We tried both soups, wan tan and a spicy one. Mock beef and mock chicken and some fresh Yasmin tea.
Has definitely become one of my favorite places in Berlin.

Open Monday through Friday for lunch and seven days for dinner (including public holidays).

Sulzbachgasse 14, Stuttgart, Germany

Great relaxing vegan place in Stuttgart

15 Jul 2012

I've been to Coox and Candy now for several times and I enjoy coming back over and over again. Nice, relaxed atmosphere with very tasty vegan food choices.
Especially the Sunday brunch is not to be missed - great value for money with lots of breakfast and hot and cold options. Be sure to make a reservation well ahead because it's often fully booked.
The desserts, cakes and pastries are simply a delight!

Unfortunately, it's not located in Stuttgart downtown, but a separate area called "Bad Canstatt", which probably makes it a bit difficult for visitors and foreigners to find it or to just walk by.

very recommended fast food deli!

03 Apr 2015

I wonder why some reviews are rather on the negative side as I could not experience things like unfriendly service or bad smell. Actually quite the opposite.
Very decent size and taste, good value for money, very efficient and fast service!

Downside definitely is that - though all food is vegan and clearly mentioned - they offer cow's milk for coffee. Very strange and the only thing that keeps the whole place from being vegan.

Mohringer Strasse 44B, Stuttgart, Germany

small but Great!

09 Feb 2014

Rather small shop but you do essentially get what you want; and a lot more. Expanding product offering continuously. Phenomenal vegan ice cream from local producer. And: most importantly: amazingly friendly service!!

Rhonstrasse 119, Frankfurt, Germany

Outrageously delicious! :o)

02 Sep 2012

Went to the Edelkiosk fpr the first time after having read so much about it. As I live pretty far away I had to wait until I was in Frankfurt for another reason.
The place is a bit remote, but once you're there you don't want to leave again. Nice and homey atmosphere, with a couple of 70s style sofas. You can enjoy a daily changing small selection of extremely delicious vegan cupcakes and cakes. To die for!
During weekdays you also get some savory treats.
We took home some more cakes and cupcakes to enjoy the following days.
This place is a BIG recommendation!

Johannesstrasse 16, Erfurt, Germany

your vegan place in Erfurt

01 Jun 2014

Open 7 days a week all year this centrally located vegan fast food restaurant offers the typical burger & co options. Very friendly staff, tasty potatoes salad and tuna salad and tiramisu. :)
If you happen to be around the area you should go there. Worth the stop.

Weyertal 15, Koln-Sulz, Cologne, Germany

Organic, fresh veggie cuisine

18 Aug 2012

The menu offers changing items, many vegan options, depending on the season. The Roesti are not to be missed. The Risotto is also very delicious. Everything prepared fresh. It is a very nice veggie option in Koeln, prices are not inexpensive but worth the money.

Stellshagen, Lindenstrasse 1, Stellshagen, Germany

A Mecca for vegetarians and vegans

26 Nov 2010

Wide variety of delicious vegan and vegetarian meals. Breakfast, lunch and dinner all buffet style. Fully organic. Wide selection of salad, antipasti, food for special needs (e.g. glutenfree), home made bakeries and pastries, several main dishes, one soup of the day and one dessert. Wide selection of homemade cakes in the cafe.
They offer creative cuisine with a strong focus on regional and especially seasonal ingredients.
Also hotel, but you don't need to stay there to dine in the restaurant or cafe, which are open to the public.
We stayed there twice (5 days each time) and were absolutely amazed about the outstanding food there. If you intend to turn a meat lover into a vegetarian take him there!!!!!
The staff is very friendly and the owner's green and social philosophy makes it a really happy place on earth.
Rates on all-you-can-eat-basis excluding drinks: Lunch 15€, Dinner 18€ (if not included in your room-rate or if you're a visitor). These are very decent prices considering the organic quality and the variety you get.
