So Good!

09 Jul 2009

We had breakfast and tea, though didn't have room to try some of their delicious-looking vegan cakes and cookies. Their tofu scramble was good w/ Indian spices and the owner combined it w/ sides he thought would be best for each person (I don't know if that's based on the ingredients we ordered in the scramble, or what). Annapurna is based on making food that is more than just physically nourishing, but the best for an individual's overall "dosha". I would say this was the best veggie food I found in ABQ.

Fast, fresh, inexpensive

22 Aug 2009

Wow, I had a totally different experience than the person above. Not fancy, for sure, but all their ingredients are fresh and cooked right in front of you. Hardly an emphasis on meat since their meat is prepared in an entirely different room/kitchen from the rest of their food and then added on top. A good place to inexpensively and quickly dine - especially if you have a group of mixed food preferences (i.e. veggies and meaties).

Fake-Meat Lovers Delight

09 Jul 2009

After reading all the stellar reviews here, of course I had to try it. Not terribly impressive. If you like fake meats, you might really enjoy it. Fei is very sweet. I wouldn't consider it a meal if I were really hungry. Not being a fan of fake meat, I haven't had a lot of it and it was an interesting experience. The "ham" was so realistic (minus the pink color) that I gave it to my herbivore partner who actually likes that sort of taste.

Not Closed - Moved!

12 Jul 2009

Just incase people didn't read the response to the below posting (restaurant closed), i wanted to make sure you didn't miss out on this fabulous place. the current address (around 5th and Blair) is correct.

Get the chef's special - 13 ingredients (at least 1 is usually fruit) arranged as a mandala and a great deal. large size has gotta be 6+ pounds.

if you are vegan, their soy cheese is smoked. (not really my thing, so i enjoy their pizzas cheese-free.)

Best Sushi in Eugene

Emerald City and Crop Burning are 2 of my favorites. Just watch out for egg as there are a couple of names for it on the menu. So delicious. Get there early - it can get packed at dinner time.

Pretty, sweet and flavorless

22 Aug 2009

Eugeners will often direct you here. And they do have quite a selection and some nice outdoor seating with a great location near downtown and the Whitacre district.

But their goodies are never as tasty as they are pretty. More likely to put you in a diabetic coma. I go for pie or vegan cheesecake and usually find someone to share it with and cut it with strong coffee/tea.

Late night and early morning hours tend to have a line out the door.

Best All-time Thai Food

22 Aug 2009

This is the best restaurant in Eugene and the best Thai food I've ever had. Sooo good. Extensive vegetarian menu - just ask for "strictly vegetarian." Wonderful service, reasonably priced. Their green curry/avocado curry is superb. But so is everything else.

Hot off the grill good

As w/ the Cornbread Cafe, there's a lot of soy here. But it's locally purchased soy, and there's a lot of tempeh available (which some people find healthier/tastier/easier to digest). I had the tempeh reuben - it was fast, hot, tasty and $5.50. Plus, if you get so many sandwiches (12 i believe) you get one free. Oh, and uses Dave's Killer Breads - yum!
