Bamboo Garden is not Vegan Anymore (they said they were previously)
06 Aug 2016
Caution: Bamboo Garden is not vegan anymore (they said they were prior but they weren't actually)...
There is evidence of dairy, eggs and/or whey in more than just the fortune cookie at the end, in some of the faux meats and other items on the menu as well...
Read this and listen to the audio in the link at the end of item 4...
(Had to rate the lowest of two cows-after this I would rate it zero cows...) :-(

I was trying to give Cafe Flora more chances from downfalls in past with things like putting honey in "vegan" dishes/desserts without telling us but after our experience on Valentine's Day, we won't be going back. Here's what happened: I made the reservations a month in advance, they said I could specify a table and I had to choose from the menu, exactly what we wanted ahead of time because they were going to make dinners by the numbers ordered and you could not mix and match veggie, vegan and vegan, gluten free options, you had to pick either one or the other. So, we ordered one vegan and one vegan, gluten free with a table next to the fountain. I thought, how nice. I chose the vegan, gluten free option specifically so I could get the type of dessert (a vanilla custard type dish) they offered with that meal and because I am eating a vegan, gluten free diet.
OK, month later...we get there and wait nearly 20 minutes to be seated (when we have reservations) and we don't get the table we reserved, instead we get a table by the window. We were like, ok...and gave them the benefit of the doubt since they were busy etc. etc. Then they gave us the menus and the courses were not in the order that was on the website, the salads were now after the entree's. The waitress said when we sit down that we can pick what we want (which we thought was kind of weird since we were told we had to chose ahead of time), we say what we had ordered. For dessert, the waitress says we can chose what we want again so I say and she comes back and says oh, that's only for our vegan, gluten free guests. I inform her that I am one of those guests as I ordered a month in advance. Oops, they are all out of that dessert (because they've been letting people order whatever they want for dessert, and they only pre-made enough for the vegan, gluten free people who ordered ahead of time--it's not like we had late reservations, and they are already out?!). Then she says, oh but we have another dessert, white cake that she thinks is gluten free...she goes to check and comes back, sorry, that's not even vegan! I do not eat anything but vegan. We end up with two vegan, chocolate cakes, that aren't gluten free...and a less then heartfelt apology. Sheesh! Needless to say, it was a less than pleasant experience on what was supposed to be a very nice, romantic, Valentine's Day dinner. We made the best of it but we won't be back. The lowest rating option for a veggie place is 2 cows.

Central Market has some really great, fresh, organic produce. If you're so inclined, you may also purchase produce by the case (and if you/your family can't eat it all yourself, you can split it with your raw/vegan friends) and save a bundle. They also have a lot of vegan options throughout the store, including quite a bit in the frozen foods selection. And, as Thoor said, lots of different tofu, even fried tofu cubes. I don't think I've seen that anywhere else. Also, you can find many ethnic items and seasonings that you can't really find too many other places.

My husband and I went on an outing to Whidbey Island and thought we'd check out Living Green Vegetarian Cafe for a nice vegan lunch. We were pleasantly surprised by an awesome vegan lunch!!! My husband got the Dragon Bowl Special which I tasted and it was heaven! Really great Thai peanut sauce in that dish. I had the Rawsome Wrap and it was incredible! I'm not usually one for beets but the flavor was so good, you wouldn't have guessed that there were even beets in it, save for the red juice on my plate. I've been to many a vegan restaurant and this was truly one of the best I've ever been to. Great flavor on the flavor! My husband said it was was the BEST vegan food he's ever had. The decor, overall feel/vibe of the place and people were very warm and friendly. What a great find! We will definitely be back. ~ Namaste' :-)

I went to this place a couple of years ago and I have two words for it, "Yum Yum!" I ordered this vegan couscous dish that sounded good from the description and I discovered that it was truly amazing!!! One of the best dishes I've ever had, seriously! The vegan chocolate fondue with fruit for dessert was also very delectable and really fun to eat! I can't wait to go back and I will for sure! :-)

24 hour Vegan Food!!! :-)

The best thing about The Naam, it's open 24 hours! Can I say that again? 24 hours, 7 days a week! How can you get better than that? I wish there was one in my neighborhood or even in my city! I've been to The Naam a few times and I even went there once twice in one day--many hours apart of course. I remember the vegan dessert, a blueberry/apply cobbler with vegan ice cream I believe it was, was awesome! I will definitely be back for more, hopefully, soon. It's quite a drive up there from the Seattle area but it's definitely worth stopping by, even on a day trip. Like said before, try to go during off times and you won't have to wait in line as long, or at all and you'll be waited on quicker.
