great for produce, think again for cafe food
14 Mar 2016
They have a great selection of vegan produce such as cheeses and frozen items.
The food at the cafe is very ordinary and overpriced for the size and quality of what was served. It is great that they are making the effort to serve vegan food, but I can get better for cheaper elsewhere.
We had the burgers, the Turkish bread was toasted within an inch of its life, the relish was on the verge of turning and the side salad was downed in balsamic vinegar. Overall pretty disappointing.

Best vegan restaurant meals yet!

Au Lac is a mostly vegan restaurant it is well priced, and had amazing flavour balance in the dishes between fresh vegetables and the focus of the dish. I can highly recommend this understated gem. We will definitely be returning.

3/4s of the way through eating my vegan tofu creole I found a prawn tail AND a fish bone, hmmmm.

We stopped in for a late lunch on the way to a long weekend holiday and what a pleasant find it was in the middle of a country town. We both had Vegan Funky Pies - they were fantastic and after discovering that some of their desserts were vegan we had dessert too! Very very yummy! We enjoyed it so much we stopped in on our return journey home! I can highly recommend a visit! Oh and even better they don't charge extra for soy in coffees!

Food was amazing, especially the MOB and the dog. Cheesecake was also good. We'll be back!

It has so much potential and we've had some great food. For a vegie cafe i find it amazing they charge extra for soy and serves are a little on the nouvelle cuisine side and the servers couldn't be any less attentive if they tried. Space is set up for 'get in and out' not really conducive to hanging out for a coffee or three with friends.

Delicious food, a great selection of homemade gourmet sausages and they even serve an all day breakfast. Coffee was mediocre but food more than makes up for it.

The staff are lovely, very attentive! The food is OMG delicious! The most difficult part was knowing what to eat - so many amazing looking dishes to choose from. We would eat here everyday if we lived in Dubai! If you are in Dubai it is worth heading down to the Marina area and finding this gem.

Great food, lovely service. We tried the seitan platter, burata, mushroom scampini and a brownie dessert extravaganza. Everything was delicious, wished I had more days in DC.

good burgers great fries

Stopped in for a quick lunch - the burgers are freshly made to order, there is a small but ample selection of flavours to have.
Fries were great as too were the burgers.
Service was quick and friendly.

Delicious! The yummiest sweet potato fries and tempeh bacon around. The burgers were amazing! The space is a little small, so standing and eating was the only option, except the bench without stools were a bit low, so a bit of an effort. Definitely go back if I get time!

If you don't mind paying more than double for your food then this is the place to go. Despite what is advertised they do not offer any cheap priced meals.
The food is great.

Amazing food. The mushroom salad was a real stand out, so too was the pumpkin curry. We will definitely be frequenting this great little restaurant. I can highly recommend eating here.

We recently went to Kingsland for dinner and came away very disappointed. The dishes we chose were, unfortunately, overly oily with very little vegetable content. We'll give it another go, but not in a hurry.

Food was amazing! It was great to try some French styled dishes in a land where butter, cream and meat rule. The service was great and very friendly.
For a guaranteed spot make sure you ring to make a booking, it is well worth the effort!
I hope they put out a cookbook!

I really love they they serve vegan food, unfortunately the taste was disappointing and the price, for what is essentially pre made canteen food, is way too high. Even their reportedly most popular dessert was something that needed to be left.

Brilliant cooking class, tasty food
08 Apr 2015
Today we took two classes: the morning general cooking class - curry pastes and curries to blow your tastebuds, & the afternoon tofu making course where besides making soy milk and tofu we learnt to make faux fish cakes using the okra amongst other tofu dishes.
The food as a cafe is of very high quality and reasonable price.
If you are coming for the cooking course make sure you go on an empty stomach otherwise you'll be like us staggering home very very full! The tofu course needs one day advance notice.

This restaurant now advertises itself as vegetarian and vegan :)
If you are vegan (like us) make sure you tell them vegan, no egg no milk! Just to be sure.
Our favourite dishes were: mushrooms with tofu, the spinach with garlic, the fried vegan with ginger (yep lots of cute typos!) tofu with lemongrass and chilli, the Hoi An rice ....
Service is a little slow but you know your dishes are being made from scratch and you can occupy yourself watching the parade of kids coming in the swap their books in the book exchange part of the store (vnese language only!)
Oh and the other thing that rocks about this place is they have a little shop attached, where you can pick up some tetra packs of soya milk - unfortunately I haven't found an unsweetened version, but none the less it lets you have a coffee later in the day...
