A surprising find!
This place serves mostly mock meat dishes. It's located on the 5th floor of Sky Mall. It's near Xinzhuang Station, where Metro lines 1 and 5 meet. I lived about an hour from there by bus and was surprised to randomly come upon a vegan restaurant outside of downtown!

Incredibly delcicious!! Plus, generous serving sizes.

not worth the trek
Out of the way of the downtown core. We were visiting from out-of-town and went on a very cold and snowy night to find the place very quiet. The lentil dahl for appetiser was good, but only warm, not hot. We asked about the 'Japanese soba noodle stir fry' which is mentioned on the website but not on the menu, and were told it was the 'Japanese ''rice'' noodle' dish on the menu (so the menu (in the restaurant) was supposedly wrong). We ordered it but it did not taste like soba noodles. The tempeh special was warm, but also not hot, and it came with an excellent (and large) side salad. The wine, however, was excellent - an organic Tempranillo. The server, especially as it was so quiet, was quite inattentive - we didn't have the feeling of being made welcome there.

The dish I ordered was only average but the free bread was delicious. If I could go back again I would, and try different dishes. The place itself was packed with locals, which to me means it's a good place. I must've been the only 'tourist' there, and it was really nice to be close enough to the tourist areas, yet not in a touristy place. In addition to WiFi, they also had two iMacs available for use to customers for free :) Overall, I recommend this place!

I wish I'd read enough of the reviews beforehand to read the ones with the directions, so in other words, I had a hard time finding the place based on only following the map on my phone. The cafe is part of "Neal's Yard", which might sound easy enough, except that the Neal's Yard complex stretches through to two adjacent streets! If you come to a place called "Neal's Yard Remedies" go through that shop and the restaurant will be in the back of it. If you happen to be on a street with a place called Crayon House, then you're very close!
Great atmosphere inside the restaurant, and delicious food to go along with it!

Love this place!
Not a 100%-veg place, however, vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free items are clearly marked on the menu. What we had was so delicious! The coconut tofu bites and the poached pear salad. Still dreaming of the coconut tofu bites, and can't wait to go back! They also have two locations in Washington, DC and one in Arlington, VA. A good place to go if dining out with non-veg people who want to eat non-veg.

numerous veg options
This place is also known as "Chakde Indian Cricket Restaurant" and "Chak De Cricket Restaurant & Bar".
It's a little hard to find. If you come on Moganshan Road, the restaurant is to the left of the canal, and if you come on Hushu S Road, the restaurant is to the right of the canal. The streets on either side of the canal are lined with restaurants, and both are pedestrian streets.
The menu has a lot of veg options, see attached photos of pages from the menu.

packaged food simply heated up?
I was a bit disappointed. First of all, I ordered a pasta dish, which I thought was to be a tomato-cream sauce, but in reality it was for the most part a tomato sauce. Secondly, after eating and paying I wandered around the shop looking at the items they have for sale, and saw the exact tomato sauce which I had just eaten, but in a package. I guess my pasta sauce that evening came from such a package, in which case, why bother eating out?

homemade Italian food ... vegan style!
Bello Bio is a very casual place where they sell some grocery items too. The menu is written on a whiteboard near the kitchen and they bring the food out to you. The risotto ball was amazing and the eggplant parmigiana was very good too.

Persian-inspired wholesome goodness
As other people have noted, Camros has a selection of food at the counter and you can order combinations of food, which is a great idea. The food is very good and all organic. The staff are friendly and helpful. We arrived late in the day so the choice was a little limited, but the food was still fresh and tasty.

international vegetarian dishes
Despite the name, Chakra Vege Cafe is a large and spacious restaurant rather than a cafe. The menu has a variety of vegetarian items representing different parts of the world.
I ordered a soba noodle dish with some deep fried tofu in it. The portion was a little on the small side and also a bit spicy, but otherwise it was very tasty. A complimentary appetizer was provided.
It's on the corner of Julu Lu (Julu Road) and Ruijin Yi Lu (Ruijin 1st Road), enter off of Julu Lu. Julu Lu is south of Yan'an Elevated Road. The three closest Metro stations are: Line 2 ~ West Nanjing; and Line 1 ~ South Shaanxi and South Huangpi.

love this place!
We only went in for a snack this time, and had a starter and a side. The fried green tomatoes were so delicious! Can't wait to go back and have them again, as well as try more items.

loved the booths!
This was my first visit to this address since it became Grasslands (opened in 2013; previously Fressen until Dec. 2012). I was very impressed with the changes they had made to the interior... the booths, the long bar, and the long row of tables. The booths are great for a bit of privacy. We went for an early dinner on a weeknight, so the place was quiet. The food was great and the server was friendly and knowledgeable.

not just food
Green Mix is an interesting mix between dining and non-dining.
There is outdoor seating in the front, and indoor seating on both levels (including a small Japanese tatami mat room on the second floor). On the first floor they also sell some grocery items, and on the second floor they sell ''non-violent fashion'' (see photo). There is a room there for trying on clothes.
I had the "mixed vegetable curry masala". It's a Japanese curry which was filling and delicious. Lemon-water is served in wooden cups, and the cutlery is wooden too. Rice is extra.
They also have lunch specials Monday-Friday from noon to 2pm.

Worth the wait!
As already noted, this place gets busy and it does not take reservations, however, it is certainly worth waiting for! Ask for their vegan menu.

super delicious curry laksa!
This is a Malaysian restaurant with some really great veggie options. The menu is in English and the owner, from Malaysia, speaks English really well.
The vegetable curry laksa is amazing, and they were able to tone down the spice for one, make it spicier for another one, while leaving it as is for the other two.
Nearest metro is Changping (line 7), exit 3, or can walk from Jing'an metro too.

I tried going here the first week of January (2013) but at the address indicated the place was boarded up and there were no signs at all. When I tried to access the website address I got the message "forbidden" and when I called the phone number it just rings and rings. I was so looking forward to trying their mac 'n cheese! Oh well!

yummy brown rice!
I came across it by chance and went in for lunch one day. I had the Japanese curry with brown rice. I happened to be in the area again the next day, and because I liked it enough I went back for another lunch. This time I had some soup, a brown rice ball (triangle) with crushed sesame seeds on the side of it, and tea. They have several varieties of the brown rice triangles. I then also got two more brown rice triangles to go!
They do have an English menu, so if they don't offer it, ask for it. Items containing fish are marked accordingly.
From Honmachi Stn take Exit 12. Once at street level go right to the covered shopping arcade, and again right into the arcade. It's about a block or so down the arcade, on the right, at an intersection.
