Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:
Its an extension of my self in a sense and where I feel most comfortable. I like being able to create different tastes and different combinations and I enjoy that it brings something else to the table. I know that being a veg, especially when your still social and involved with nonveg people expands the perspective of those around you who cant imagine living with out there usual staples. I like sharing different ideas and by inspiring others to even add one or two meals to there schedule that are veg friendly is an awesome step. To make veg not so taboo and secret but to expose it and encourage others to see it differently is awesome. Because of who I am, I shut down the preconceptions and stereotypes of what it means to be veg and even raw, it cuts the extremes and create for the people I meet a tangibility and realism about it. That inevitably its an artistic journey and art can be demanding sometimes, so can being a veg.
I joined HappyCow Members Community because:
I joined because I actually found out about the site in a book. I had never heard of the site and it looks pretty cool. I also like sharing the information rather it be food spots or books or even tips for those who are trying to transition from meat to veg. When I got on the road it was still a "secret society" and fellow vegs were Not helpful, it was a figure it out snooty poody type of thing. Peta gave a gist of what it was but kept me faux dependent which I am not a fan of. I like the old school approach of veg that is out now, its simple, veggies, fruit, and if you like: grains and legumes which is awesome.
Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:
I love the Getty museum and small art shows and art displays, I enjoy drawing and ceramics, I am a Polluck fan and enjoy abstract and surrealism. I like veg food spots that aren't trendy and soy dependent ( I sometimes like soy but soy doesn't love me lol) I want to go to Cuba, Puerto Rico, Haiti, Ireland, Paris, Belize, Yucat
Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:
seitan, cashew cheese, dandelion greens, arugula, limes, lemons, dates, avocados. I do enjoy the occasional vegan enchilada (same recipe as the orginal just swapped meat for tofurky sausage and cheese for daiya cheese) I love coconut water straight out the coconut, agave syrup and molasses, nutzo nutbutter, curry powder, turmeric, cayenne pepper is a staple and banana cream (food processed frozen banana), falafels, hummus, tabouli, Bustelo expresso, cucumbers, radishes, raw beets, kale chips, Mexican wedding cookies, plantains, bananas, chipotle peppers and all corn tortilla chips

Alexandra Jameison is an awesome author, vegan on the cheap is an awesome book, choosingraw.com is awesome, vegweb.com is easy access recipes, Food Inc. was good, Chew on This by Schlosser is really good and really simple, Supersize Me was a good film, vegansociety has awesome films too,
