Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:
I am an omnivore (except I don't eat nightshades ever, and skip grains, starches, and dairy most of the time). I eat many vegetarian/vegan/raw foods for variety, for health, and for taste.
I joined HappyCow Members Community because:
Mostly to find health food stores when I travel abroad. I also like the restaurant reviews as well. When I ate a strictly macrobiotic diet, this site was particularly helpful!
Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:
I love Iceland and cannot say enough good things about the place. Really want to go to China someday.

Anything from Pure Food and Wine / One Lucky Duck / Souen / Angelica - all in NYC. I make a lot of seed based crackers, almond milk, coconut mousse and raw cheesecake.

My favorite raw cookbook is Living Cuisine by Renee Loux Underkoffler and my favorite vegetarian cookbook is The Angelica Home Kitchen by Leslie McEachern. I also like all the books by Deborah Madison.
