About:
Vegetarian for two years now, I'm a New York native who loves trying new things and meeting new people. The perfect weekend would involve riding bikes with my boyfriend, relaxing on a grassy hill with a book, and window shopping with a warm cup of coffee.

More About Me

Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:

I love animals and if I can live my life by hurting fewer of them, then that's a goal of mine. I also take forever to make a decision, so eating out is a breeze for me when I'm limited to only vegetarian selections -- unless of course I'm dining in NYC, where I can spend 20 minutes debating whether to get the soy orange chicken or the mock duck noodle soup. I've been red meat free for 7 years.

I joined HappyCow Members Community because:

HappyCow helped my boyfriend and I find new restaurants to explore during our travels to Montreal and Orlando last year. I can't wait to see what finds they list in all the cities we have yet to visit.

Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:

If you're visiting NYC try Budda Bodahi, Dojo, Pump Energy Food, Chicpea, Blossom, Home on Eighth, Tinys, Curlys, Zen Palate...and there are dozens more top choice restaurants for those vegetarians on a budget.

Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:

Falafel, hummus, pizza, soy burgers. Most morningstar, quorn, boca and gardenburger products are better than actual meat -- give 'em a try.

Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:

Fast Food Nation woke me up to the mistreatment of manufactured cows. I'm not vegan, so I have some bettering to do for myself -- but I try my best to make smart decisions and it's a start.
