I don't eat milk products or most animal products (I do eat honey and have probably had something with egg in it once or twice in the past year). I gladly pay more not to shop at Walmart. Adbusters fan.

More About Me

Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:

I'm not gung-ho for animal rights, but there's no good reason for me to consume them. Cooked muscle meats contain 17 HCAs known to cause cancer(1), and prion diseases can't be destroyed at boiling temperatures (only at much higer temperatures like in an autoclave-google it). The milk myth has been dispelled by the journal of pediatrics(2), so why be SCARED into drinking rBGH by vicious advertising (which are clearly now lies) when I can get the same amount of absorbable calcium from a cup of broccoli, kale, or tofu? B12 is the only vitamin which might possibly be difficult for vegetarians to get in the wild, but it can take a decade to become anemic from it because the retention is so high. Luckily we don't live in the wild and don't have to suck intestines to get the bacteria that make it. We live in an age where the pharma industry cultures excessive amounts of the bacteria that produce it to fortify cereals, tofu, and vitamins. Raising thousands of pounds of vegetables to feed a few hundred pounds of muscle, which won't do me any good anyway, is not sustainable.
