More About Me
Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:
I think it's about the bigger picture. It's not just about the cute animals, it's about people and I have a serious issue with giving my money to people who I feel don't care about people. Especially when the people most affected by their selfishness are poor people of color. It reeks havoc on the environment. It's done extensive damage to the health of black and latino peoples. As a Christian I am called first to love others, by choosing not to eat meat I am boycotting the pain they cause people and as a Latina I am trying to change the food habits that hurt my people.
I joined HappyCow Members Community because:
To not feel so alone and have some support!
Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:
Dominican Republic, China, my beautiful Mexico! I would love to visit more places in Mexico like Oaxaca and Chiapas. I would love to go to India too.
Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:
I love indian food and green smoothies and miso soup and lots of salad and veggie burritos and nori rolls. I've been a vegetarian on and off since college. I admit I've fallen off the wagon for various reasons, but I'm coming back with a vengeance! As I've grown older and wiser I've realized that it doesn't have to be expensive to maintain a veggie lifestyle. I'm transitioning to veganism. no cheese! :)
Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:
