- I am a happily married woman waiting for the lead weight that is chronic pain to lift so that I can get on with the life I had planned at 20. I'm trying to keep in mind the Lennon sentiment above, but sometimes life in pain feels like being stuck in an endless ocean between life and death. I can only tread water for so long. Hopefully the doctors at Hopkins will be able to throw me a raft. I became a vegan almost 7 years ago, and even though it can be challenging at times, it brings an inner peace that I didn't realize I was missing when I was a meat-eater.
