More About Me

Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:

Meat intially made my stomach hurt every time I ate it, especially red meat. Online, i read an article that said I should fast and then reintroduce food one at a time unitll I figured out the problem. It was meat. So I just cut it out. Now I'm a vegetarian (mostly) for a whole host of other reasons, too.

I joined HappyCow Members Community because:

I was searching on Ask.com for Saint Francis of Assisi to see if he was a vegetarian. HappyCow had the best list and it seemed like a nice community.

Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:

Last summer I went down to the Florida Keys. We stopped in Vero Beach for a few days. Lovely, lovely beaches. The summer before, I went to Colorado. There was some nice scenery there, too. In Kansas on the way there, we passed one of the largest cattle grounds I've ever seen. In a guide it said the steer range was the largest in the country. For as far as you could see, there was nothing but cows, all ready to die for us. It was very sad and sickening, definitely onne of the worst things I hadve ever seen.

Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:

Tomatoes from my garden, grapes, eggplant, and my current favorite, edamame.

Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:

Mpther Earth News isnt a vegetarian publication per say, but it has very useful info for organic gardeneers and people who live sustainable lifestyles. It is very inspiring to read the stories about people living off the grid and living in harmony with the earth.
