More About Me

Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:

I became a vegetarian for health reasons but the more I learned about vegetarianism, the more concerned I became about animal rights. I am now a vegan for primarily animal rights reasons and could not even conceive another way of thinking. It is good to know that I don't have to cause suffering and death just to have another meal or add to my wardrobe. Fortunately my wife and I made this journey together and not only enjoy the vegan lifestyle but have enjoyed food ever so much more since the transition. We have tasted foods that we never had tried before and find going out to eat in other cities a wonderful adventure full of opportunity.

Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:

My favorite magazines are Veg News, American Prospect, the Progressive and Mother Jones and I would recommend reading the New York Times and Washington Post whenever you can. I tend to like pretty serious stuff when it comes to movies and books so unless you like "An Inconvenient Truth" or "Why We Fight", you might be bored with my choices. I am the same way with books just having finished Douglad Brinkley's long but fascinating story of Hurrican Katrina.
