More About Me
Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:
The biggest difference between 4 legged animals and us (2 legged animals) is that we have a CHOICE and almost 40 years ago I chose NOT to eat living creatures who share our world and instead try to speak out for them by becoming an animal rights activist. I'm still at it today, a retired librarian from Tampa, Florida, then returned to my Bolivian roots and co-founded an animal rights foundation (aplabolivia.org) in my home town of La Paz, Bolivia. Like George Bernard Shaw said "Animals are my friends and I don't eat my friends."
I joined HappyCow Members Community because:
"Happy Cow" is a wonderful place where one can find dependable and true tried places to eat all over the world; well researched information and recipes; it is very well organized and I truly just love cows - they are the most gentle of vegetarian creatures who are unfortunately so thoroughly exploited. May all cows one day be HAPPY!
Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:
My country Bolivia offers the most amazing and exotic places, some of which I have visited and am working on other places to go. I love to travel so much that I now also have a travel agency in La Paz, Bolivia which I run with 3 of my brothers - www.classictravelbolivia.com Please visit us!
Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:
ANY veggie and fruit - especially avocados; walnuts and lentils. Mother Earth has such a vast array of foods for our sustenance - we should kiss the earth every single day!! I love you PACHA MAMA!! (mother earth in the Aymara tongue - an official Bolivian language)
Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:
BOOKS: "The World Peace Diet" by Dr. Will Tuttle who tirelessly lectures and travels with this important message. ANY and ALL the books by Ingrid Newkirk (founder of PETA); "Animal Liberation" by Dr. Peter Singer; "Slaughter of the Innocent" by Hans Ruesch. MOVIES: "All the Little Animals" "Earthlings" "Gandhi" "Antonia's Line"
