More About Me

Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:

Because I can't imagine that the idea of killing for food would have seemed a good idea if I hadn't been raised to find it normal.

I joined HappyCow Members Community because:

I've benefited so much from the work others have put in so that I can easily find places to eat on my phone, I figured I should contribute a bit too.

Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:

Sapporo in Japan was surprising - macrobiotic food, which is very vegan friendly, is really popular there, and I had some of my most delicious restaurant food ever there. I love living in Melbourne, there are so many great food options here, there's always a new vegan or vegan friendly place for me to try. Places I want to go - just about everywhere. However, I would love to experience the vegan convenience that so many people living in large US cities seem to take for granted - the large range of vegan brands available for a start.

Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:

I'm supposed to pick favourites? I just love food, in fact I tend to obsess about it - cooking it, eating it, reading about it, looking at pictures of it. I have a particular fondness for anything chocolatey, but really, I just love food, and being vegan has probably just made me into even more of a foodie.

Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:

Peter Singer was really influential in my journey to veganism, especially "The Ethics of What You Eat" and "Animal Liberation".
