More About Me

Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:

I originally went vegetarian because I simply didn't want to eat dead things. I didn't want my body to be a graveyard. Later, I learned more about dairy production and factory farms, and my beliefs that all animals deserve a life free of harm and cruelty, and certainly not one limited to harm and cruelty, lead me to go vegan. I realize now how much better I feel eating vegan, both physically and mentally. :)

I joined HappyCow Members Community because:

I love HappyCow! I use it all the time and it's so helpful! I just decided to be a member because of how much I love it, and because the more vegan/vegetarian communities I can be a part of, the better!

Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:

I've been a lot of places in the US. LOVE Boulder, Colorado. New York, both the city and the Catskills. Santa Barbara, California, as well as the redwood forests. Vermont. ALASKA. I want to go everywhereeeee! I am so blessed to be able to go to Spain and France next year on an art history based trip - super excited!

Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:

Cucumbers, broccoli, tomatoes, hummus, green smoothies, homemade fresh bread and jam, fruit, fruit, more fruit, and occasionally I need some vegan pizza or a batch of vegan chocolate chip cookies.

Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:

I've seen a bunch of documentaries including the obvious Food Inc. I also recommend Earthlings, Meet Your Meat, and Forks Over Knives. However, be aware of some gruesome footage. I haven't read too many books on veganism yet but I want to start, so I'll take your recommendations on those!
