More About Me
Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:
I prefer to eat vegan for my own health, the environment and the animals. Plus, fresh & local veggies, whole grains, beans, etc. just taste so damn good!
I joined HappyCow Members Community because:
I joined HappyCow to find reviews of new veg restaurants around me. It's always great to find fantastic veg food at so many new and up and coming restaurants! I share my thoughts so others can navigate their way through their veg dining choices. When I find incredible vegan/vegetarian food I must tell the world and rejoice!
Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:
Some favorites of mine are a South African vegan friendly restaurant called Karoo in Eastham, MA, China Pan- vegan Chinese cuisine with mock meats in Farmington, CT, and vegan/vegetarian brunch at The Grange in Providence, RI.
Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:
I am in love with home made vegan soups; Moroccan curry lentil soup, broccoli and "cheese" soup, Vegan Minestrone and more. Mexican is always yummy and easy to veganize. Chinese mock chicken and broccoli over brown rice is always a comfort food. My new foodie passion is South African vegan Bobotie stew. Curry and lots of fresh spices can never go wrong in my book!
Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:
Can't live without my cookbooks and my pinterest page! You can check my favorited (yes, I made up a word) recipes at http://www.pinterest.com/vegchristine/boards/ . A few books from my collection that I use almost every day: "Fresh from the Vegetarian Slow Cooker" by Robin Robertson, "Claire's Corner Copia Cookbook" by Claire Criscuolo, "The Moosewood Cookbook" collection by Mollie Katzen. I also enjoy the magazine "Vegetarian Times".
