About:
I have been a lacto-ovo vegetarian for 38 years now, trying to go vegan. I live with my husband, three dogs, and five cats on 3.5 acres that are registered with the National Wildlife Federation as a Backyard Habitat. We have hundreds of quail, bunnies, coyotes, and other birds and animals who share our space with us. We also built a special garden structure to grow our own veggies. My husband is a librarian, and I am enrolled at Los Angeles City College as a film student. We plan on moving to the central coast of Oregon in a few years. Life is good!

More About Me

Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:

I really love animals. I also believe that eating the is not necessary for human survival.

I joined HappyCow Members Community because:

I like the site and what they are trying to do.

Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:

I love Greece. I spent 3 months travelling by myself in India - would return in a heartbeat. Went to China earlier this year, but was on a tour which only visited tourist sites and restaurants (the food sucked! - at one restaurant the vegetarians, all six of us, were served 3 different dishes of stir-fried celery each in the same sauce but cut differently and a plate of french fries!) My husband and I plan on returning by ourselves a couple of years. London was interesting, but would like to see more of England. Always wanted to go to Ireland and Kenya. Someday!

Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:

Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:

My all time favorite "veggie" book is "Diet for a Small Planet." There are so many books now than when I started 36 years ago, I wouldn't know which to recommend. When I need a recipe I usually go online.
