More About Me

Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:

I've been a vegan for about 4 years. I can't stand to think about animals being in so much pain for unnecessary food. I was a vegetarian for about 20 years before I became vegan. It took me a long time to realize that I was still causing equal pain to animals by continuing to eat eggs & cheese.

I joined HappyCow Members Community because:

I like to have updates on the vegetarian world & fight for animal rights. It's nice to see that there are other people out there who feel the same way I do. Strangely enough, I don't really have any vegetarian friends.. except for my boyfriend... who is basically converting from a traditional Puerto Rican diet which has a lot of fruits & vegetables... but also lots of meat. There's never meat in the apartment. He's doing a great job & it's out of his love for me, but deep down he knows its the right thing to do. Most of my friends know it's the right thing to do deep down. I don't understand why it doesn't effect them the way it effects me. That's why I like to read articles & opinions from people who actually get it. This is the perfect place. Thanks Happy Cow!!

Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:

Like: Dun-Well Doughnuts, Blossom, Peacefood Cafe, Candle Cafe, Pure Food & Wine, Maoz Vegetarian, Terri, Hummus Place, Gobo, Vatan, Angelica Kitchen, Dosas, Ayurverda Cafe, Zen Palate, Pure Juice and Takeaway, Red Bamboo, Sacred Chow, Whole Earth Bakery & Kitchen Would like to visit: Dirt Candy, Strictly Roots, V-Note, Cocoa V, JivamukTEA Caf

Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:

CHOCOLATE!!!! fresh pasta, stuffed mushrooms, portobello, fresh bread, smoothies, fresh soups. Basically, anything vegan.
