Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:

I joined HappyCow Members Community because:

I saw the Amy's restaurant opening on FB and somehow ended up seeing Happy Cow. Being a single working mom in the past(Past cuz she grew up!), I used to stock up on Amy's frozen foods and Mija loved it. I cruised through Happy Cow and it's a Positive. Everyone needs Positives :-) And I am former vegetarian who recently converted to Vegan. I think I will learn a lot here and be more informed on many issues :-)

Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:

I have been in most US States and Mexico. I did a stint in the Navy, but didn't get to go overseas. My dream is to tour Europe before I get too old to do it. My daughter and I had a plan to backpack/train Europe, but it never happened. Life and circumstance...and no money :-( It's a dream that hope will happen some day, with Mija (preferably) or without... Anyone out there wanna take me? 'Have passport, will travel' ! :-) I have also become a bit of an amateur photographer this last two years and I will be photographing my way from west coast to east coast Aug-Oct. :-)

Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:

I miss Amy's Pot Pies. I wish they would start making them again. I love berries, avocados. I cook soups and stews and chili. I love veggie burgers but need to avoid soy at my age (51). I do miss the flavor of cheese,and I miss dishes needing eggs. But after watching a few eye opening movies of what they do to cows and chickens, I could Never eat it again. I should like to learn of a non-soy cheese substitute..

Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:

Too Many. Read. I still have not finished : Why We Love Dogs, Eat Pigs, and Wear Cows, by Melanie Joy PhD. I know it was what made my former "Carnivore" sister and her very "Carnivore" wife go vegetarian a few years back. I didn't finish cuz I wasn't ready to give up dairy...I will finish now and update this...
