Sorry for the late response as I've been terribly busy. A book I like in particular is called "Making Kind Choices" by Ingrid Newkirk. It not only goes into Vegan choices ingredient-wise, but also product and charity-wise. In my opinion, you're next best resource is the Internet and friends. Always read your labels on food and if something has an ingredient you haven't heard of, google it. Also some obvious ones you'll notice are: casein, whey, carmine, lactose, etc. Making the transition initially is difficult, but after a few weeks you'll wonder why you ate the animal derived stuff in the first place...I can't even think about cheese anymore, yuck. It appears you're in Portland, OR, which I hear is a Vegan paradise. Maybe see if there are any Vegan meet up groups in your area as well. Take care, and good luck!

You would probably remember my name. We met at Franklin High and had lots of fun together!
