More About Me
Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:
I decided to adopt the Vegan lifestyle in December 14 and have never looked back. The reason I first decided to go vegan was after a particularly long period of bad health. I learnt of the health benefits for myself if firstly, I ate more healthily and secondly, didn’t consume foods that weren’t designed for the human body. My second reason was obviously to protect and save as many animals as I could by not contributing to the industries that brutally kill these animals on a daily basis. I was very hesitant to becoming a vegan as I had it in my head the buying of food would be awkward. What would I cook, what if I make myself ill, what if people judge me etc…..But after many discussions with a fellow vegan friend and plenty of research I thought I would give it ago, and I must say it’s the best decision I have ever made. When I made my transition from being a meat eater to becoming vegan it wasn’t something I did overnight. I didn’t want to become vegan until I was happy I had done all the research, and that I was 100% certain it was the right decision. The last documentary I watched before the transition was “Earthlings” and although I am glad I watched it, at the same time it was the worst thing I have ever watched, it made me feel physically sick. It was this moment I told myself I could never contribute to those industries again. Since becoming vegan I have seen some health benefits. I have lost nearly 2 stone in weight, I have more energy and I eat more regularly. The best thing about becoming vegan is that I have the pleasure of trying many different foods that I could never have imagined trying before. I love cooking and finding new recipes to try.
