Hi, Jocelyn!
I've been a vegetarian for about 6 years now. It was a gradual process; I gave up red meat 12 years ago, then poultry & pork and finally fish. I recently have begun to try the vegan lifestyle. With all the options out there, it really isn't too bad (unless you're going out to eat...that's always a bit tricky).
My friends are totally supportive (I've even managed to bring a couple over from the dark side)! My family is supportive for the most part; as long as I don't get "preachy" with them, they generally respect my choice.
I know how hard it can be to be a vegetarian in the South, sometimes it seems like no one understands!
I'm on Facebook (if you're on there). There's an application called Recipe Binder...just a fun way to trade recipes. I'm in the process of getting my favorite Veggie & Vegan recipes loaded on there.
Nice to meet you!
