More About Me

Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:

I initially became vegan (4 years ago) for selfish reasons - I needed to reduce my high cholesterol. After being vegan for 6 months my cholesterol improved by 60% and is normal. Of course being vegan has made me more aware of the planet and how animal agriculture in it's present form is not sustainable. I'm really concerned about the cruelty to animals and how selfish humans are. I will never stop being vegan

I joined HappyCow Members Community because:

I travel quite a bit and Happy Cow is very useful in finding vegan friendly restaurants in new towns/cities/countries.

Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:

I love Paris, there's more and more vegan cafes/restaurants each time I go. My last trip (a week ago) to the UK was very enjoyable. Loved Acorn Restaurant and The Green Rocket Café in Bath, Mae Deli and The Gate in London

Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:

I have a sweet tooth and love all the wonderful raw energy balls and desserts one can make. I also love risottos made with buckwheat groats instead of rice - all time fave asparagus and pea risotto with homemade vegan 'parmesan' cheese

Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:

Cowspiracy documentary - Kip Anderson is doing a great job for the planet. Deliciously Ella's blog - great recipes - her café (Mae Deli) in London is fantastic
