- Vegetarians live longer, healthier lives. That's a fact. Modern medicine can prolong life and medical science is keeping people alive who would die without transplants, bypasses etc; but what of the quality of life? It's simpler not to eat meat.

Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:
Fitness and long quality of life. Currently over 50 look pretty ok, but family Hx is against me. Hope to beat the stats. May the buck stop here.
I joined HappyCow Members Community because:
I am over 20 yrs vegetarian and have something to offer. Also I live in Waco,TX which may have a hidden number of vegetarians i hope to connect with. Vegetarian-wise it's very lonely.
Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:
Wheatsville in Austin,TX Has the best Kombucha ever. Great prepared vegan foods to taste, buy and prepare at home. Lots of organic and home grown veggies. Very nice selections of seaweeds, plant foods and specialty but down to earth gourmet foods period. Cheesecake Factory in Ft Worth TX. They have a spring roll stuffed with avocado that is so delicious. Gourmet Gallery in Waco, TX has awesome fresh prepared vegan dishes that I love. The chef is right there for you. All the staff is exceptional.
