About:
Have been in Tokyo for over a decade, but have only gone veg for the last three or four years. I've found several great places thanks to HappyCow members, so I contribute as a way of giving a bit back.

More About Me

Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:

Two main reasons: Ethics, and Health.

I joined HappyCow Members Community because:

I found some wonderful veg restaurants in Tokyo thanks to HappyCow members, wanted to give a bit back.

Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:

I've been to many countries across North America, Europe, Asia. I've liked most of them, but am currently in, and love, Japan. Within Japan itself, I reserve special adoration for: Nara, Ise, Sapporo, Takayama, Hiroshima, and of course Tokyo. And in Tokyo itself, I love "shitamachi" (old-town) areas like Asakusa, Yanesen, and especially Koenji...a down-to-earth lovely neighbourhood (and incidentally with a few of the best vegan restaurants in Tokyo).

Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:

I primarily love true raw organic vegan food. My main peeves are processed food, which I try to avoid, and GMO anything, which I NEVER touch if I can help it. Also, "Organic" and "Vegan" are terms that seem deceitfully abused these days, and in my opinion, factory-processed food cannot honestly use either label, so my reviews will reflect that. And about my reviews: I take my 5-star ratings seriously (large gap between my 4s and 5s), so anything I rate at 5 is exceptionally good in my book.

Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:
