- I have been dairy-free since July 2013. I switched to this lifestyle because I'm lactose intolerant and recently discovered that dairy breaks me out. Unrelated to the above information, I only eat chicken and turkey by-products.

More About Me
Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:
My body feels so much better!! Dairy doesn't react well with my body and now that I don't eat it I feel lighter, leaner, and not so gas-y. I also get a thrill in finding foods and restaurants that are within the boundaries of dairy-free or vegan.
I joined HappyCow Members Community because:
I was looking for restaurants where I could find vegan desserts and healthier options and I came across this forum.
Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:
I've been to Northstar Cafe. Although they don't offer many vegan options I was able to accommodate for their lack of variety through substitution and created a great meal. I've also been to Lemongrass. They had a lot of vegetarian options and their food is delicious. I really want to visit Banana Leaf, Portia's Cafe, and Yellow Brick Pizza (all in the Columbus, Ohio area).
Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:
I looove raw almonds, almond milk, dairy free ice cream, KIND bars, Enjoy Life snacks, and apple chips.
Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:
