More About Me

Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:

I spent half my life on a small family farm, and cleaning up commercial chicken houses, and know that the animals from commercial farms live very short unhappy, unhealthy lives. While I don't see a problem with raising your own animals or occasional hunting for food as long as you give the animals respect and proper care, I feel that plants are a better way to go. More health benefits, less unnecessary fats, and much less violence and cruelty.

I joined HappyCow Members Community because:

My family has no desire to drop meats from their daily diet, so I needed some place I could turn to as a reminder of my choice. The fact that there is a directory for foods, restaurants, and recipes makes it even better.

Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:

Portland, Maine was a wonderful city. Both the old and new parts of Portland and South Portland are full of beautiful homes, historical sites, and more choices in shopping and dining than I had ever seen in one place before. One day I would like to visit Ireland and Japan. I'm sure there are other places I would like just as well, but those are what come to find the fastest.

Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:

I haven't tried enough options, so I'll have to go with salad for now...

Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:

I would suggest Vegetarian Times to any who haven't read it already. It's always loaded with recipes, articles, and advertisements for Veg friendly products.
