More About Me
Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:
To protect all living creatures from harm, better for our environment, better for me.
I joined HappyCow Members Community because:
To learn more about vegetarianism on all levels. Eventually move to being vegan.
Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:
Would love to visit Sri Lanka!
Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:
Margaret river tempeh, vegenaise organic Mayo, Nutty Bruce coconut & almond milk (soooo yummy), blueberries, hummus, quinoa, beetroot, fennel, cacao, tumeric, raw energy balls and last but not least CHIA SEEDS and Loving Earth Raw Organic Cashew Milk Raspberry Chocolate.
Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:
Animals Australia vegetarian starter kit.......free and fantastic, a great help! Available to all, can check it out on their website. Supercharged food "Eat clean green & vegetarian" by Lee Holmes This book has vegan options for recipes which is great! Natural Vegan magazine (Aussie publication)

Hi, ChiaChild! Please excuse the tardiness of my response...it's been a few weeks since I logged into the website instead of the app.
The first two weeks were easy for the novelty of the experience. This was the period that I turned the whole process into a game of sorts. The second two weeks were the roughest. I'm a solo vegan, so I don't have vegan friends for support and my family is omnivorous. The worst part was absolutely the loss of cheese, and my family was relentless in trying to get me to cave in. I didn't. :)
Now that we're in September, I'm wrapping up my 2nd month as a vegan, and I find that I love it. My dietary preferences still bother other family members from time to time, but they're coming around. My wife and I are headed to Canada tomorrow, and we've been browsing vegan and vegan-friendly restaurants together. (This is a BIG step from the "you're just gonna have to not be vegan when we go to Canada" scene that was previously being played-out.) My girls have also started to become more mindful of what they're putting in their bodies and like to catch me if I'm about to make a non-vegan mistake. I'm not forcing my lifestyle on anyone, but I believe they'll start making better decisions over time, and I intend to help by leading by example.
Personally, I've noticed that everything about my lifestyle has improved in some way. I've lost a few pounds and reduced body fat percentage without even trying. I've been sleeping better at night, had better control of impulsive thoughts and actions, and I don't have energy ebbs and flows during the day. It really has been a whole body rejuvenation.
I'm certain that I've broken vegan protocol in the past two months. I can't tell you how or where, but statistically it's impossible that I've universally avoided all eggs, dairy, and animal products. I also haven't gone through my closet and thrown out the leather goods. My personal belief is that the leather damage is already done. I won't buy more, but I won't throw the old out.
That's my near 2-mo wrap-up. How is your vegan journey going?
