More About Me

Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:

When I started eating vegan I didn't even know there was a name for it. I was a vegetarian who didn't eat dairy or eggs. When someone gave me the word for it I started reading and I haven't stopped. I'm always discovering new reasons to live vegan. Mostly though it's because it's what works for me.

I joined HappyCow Members Community because:

I travel more than I should. HappyCow is my best friend when I show up in a new place and I'm looking for some good eats. It's always there.

Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:

I've loved everywhere I've ever been with the exception of Slovakia. They ran out of vegetable because it was the weekend? I lived on bread for four days. Where I'd like to go? Chile, Antarctica, Fiji, China, Back home to Canada.

Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:

In the UK, it's Naked Raw Food Bars. In Japan, it's seaweed riceballs (onigiri). In Vancouver it's anything served at the Naam. In New Zealand it's kumara chips. In Egypt it's cheap and nasty falafel. In Thailand it's sticky rice. When I'm starving and I have to just reach for something it's peanut butter and banana sandwiches.

Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:

Fall on Your Knees, Where the Crow Flies, Bringing Up Baby, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Kite Runner, 11Minutes, Shawshank Redemption, The Cook, the Theif, His Wife and her Lover, Love Actually, the Yoga Bible, Tattoo You.
