More About Me
Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:
Ever since I became vegetarian in 1967 and vegan in 1969 have always had compassion in my way of life. Then health and fitness came into the equation. The horrors of vivisection, vaccination and animal research all have their place and at the root of it is the motto 'Live and Let Live'.
I joined HappyCow Members Community because:
Now being the owner/manager of a vegan shop, which is like a mini supermarket full of shelves of vegan foods, shoes, perfume, chocolates, cheeses, crisps, milks, tins, ice creams, sausages, frozen foods more...I and my vegan staff really like to help new veggies and vegans along the way and to serve all those gluten free and other free from customers who visit us.
Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:
I love to travel and try and test as many vegan restaurants while away. I really liked a vegan cafe in Lisbon, would like one like that in Newcastle! I loved Berlin and its 19 vegan places, of which we visited five a couple of years ago. I also loved Croatia, Nice and in Italy - Perugia and Bologna. I have really enjoyed cycling around England and Europe when I was younger and need to do it again! I also complete in Ten pin bowling all over England and Europe.
Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:
Everything we stock in Alternative Stores! Also mango, avocados, cherries, blueberries, bananas, celery, the list could go on forever! Scheese in Wensleydale flavour as thats the cheese I remember from my first 16 years non vegan! My own nut roast, 'Strettioli' invented in 1968 whilst on a cookery course at the Vegetarian Society HQ and I use the same recipe now!
Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:
Favourite book probably still the Hobbit for its descriptions, as it comes to life in ones mind. As to films some of my favourites are: James Bolam in 'The Missing Postman', 'Love Actually', 'An Officer and a Gentleman', 'Speed', 'Sleepless in Seattle', any 'Robin Hoods', 'Mr Bean in France'.
